Sheesh. I applied 11/05 and haven't even gotten a status checker. Is anyone else in a similar position?ScrabbleChamp wrote:For the record:

I applied on the 8th and still no status checker. They say that it depends on when you apply, and it could take a month to get one if a lot of people applied around the same timeeuskadi wrote:Sheesh. did anyone have to wait a long time between when you submitted your app to when you get an application received email/status checker? I submitted everything 11/27 and haven't received anything yet;, hopefully that doesn't mean they pre-rejected me before i even sent an app?
also, totally noob question, but what is ASW?

I expected as much, but I was still surprised to see someone who submitted her/his application a few days prior already receive a decision.Strange wrote:I applied on the 8th and still no status checker. Yes, Michigan makes you wait an usually long amount of time for the status checker, but once you get the status checker there is a good chance that you will get a decision not longer after (sometimes as soon as a week or two).cactuarX3 wrote:did anyone have to wait a long time between when you submitted your app to when you get an application received email/status checker? ASW = Admitted Students Website. When you get your status checker you will be able to attempt to log in to the ASW. Access = acceptance, and is usually the first sign.

ASW typically stands for 'Admitted Students Weekend', the weekend where all the admitted students are invited to visit the school and are given a 'orientation' of sorts to help them decide if they want to attend; here, I think it means 'Admitted Students Website', aka the website that becomes available for prospectives once they have been admitted.cactuarX3 wrote:did anyone have to wait a long time between when you submitted your app to when you get an application received email/status checker? Do you have any great softs? Looking on LSN last year, nobody with your #'s got an outright acceptance, though it doesn't look like anyone ED'd either. And only one person was ultimately accepted, a non-trad.UnamSanctam wrote:I started hyperventilating. Michigan is literally my dream school and...oh man. Is there any point in checked ASW repeatedly? Or does it only update once per day

Yeah... I want to know the answer to this too. Also, people with 11/17 complete dates... When did you apply? I applied 10/27 and received my status checker/complete on 11/11 but it updated again on 11/17.msblaw89 wrote:Is there any point in checked ASW repeatedly? Or does it only update once per day

I don't have any softs worth mentioning. I'm still in undergrad. Technically I'm a 3.27 and not even a 3.3. The only other factor that may play a part is I'm in-state, but that doesn't usually have a big boost for Mich.

What do you mean it updated again on 11/17? Doesn't it update almost every day?sandwiches5000 wrote:Yeah... I want to know the answer to this too. Also, people with 11/17 complete dates... There is no point in checking ASW repeatedly. This mindless action will consume your life, and will have utterly no effect on your admission. Turn off the internet, pour yourself a stiff one, and wait for the postman to bring the good news. I promise you it's a better route.sandwiches5000 wrote:Yeah... This is obviously the best advice... but I still want to know if ASW site can change in the middle of the day or multiple times per daybasilseal wrote:There is no point in checking ASW repeatedly. Congrats to everyone!:)
I already submitted my application, but I want to write another optional essay, the Why Michigan one. Where should I send it? Straight to the Admissions office? Or am I too late and I shouldn't?

For those who have been admitted, did ASW update before your status checker indicated that a decision had been made? My status checker still just says "complete," so I haven't been checking ASW.AntipodeanPhil wrote:cactuarX3 wrote:ASW = Admitted Students Website.
