I didn't receive any scholarship money from BU in my acceptance packet. Does anyone know what BU's policy is on negotiating? I was thinking of sending them an email asking whether they would consider giving me some.

Yes. Negotiate. I'd suggest coming at them with another offer though. "Look, BU, I love you, but BC offered me 20k/yr"

Just got an email with 10k a year, need-based Alumni Scholarship. I'm going to email them about my 28k/year from WUSTL and see if they can help me out any- I really <3 Boston

Oh, and I was admitted mid-January, so there was quite a lag before scholly info came out.

I got the PI scholly (30K/year), was notified via phone on president's day, then got the packet by friday.

Congrats on the PI Scholly! Do you know how competitive it was? Are there additional requirements/strings? I won the Public Service Scholly at BC so I'm just curious!

I don't think they have yet, but damnit they told me they were mailing me a decision letter yesterday. If I don't get a call I think that's a very bad sign.

Of course, I never really had my hopes up. They seem to reject/WL anyone with a GPA below their 25th, regardless of LSAT. There are some 17x LSATs waitlisted on LSN with GPA's in the low 3's in engineering. Honestly that seems like poor practice from an admissions standpoint. Those people are going to cushion your LSAT, probably do well in LS, and probably do well on employment afterward.

But anyway, I'm in at GW, they know a 3ish GPA doesn't say "run for the hills" if it's in engr, especially from a respectable engr school (my UG is 20ish in chem engr).

I was admitted with a 3.25/167. So, well < 25% GPA, and = 75% LSAT. Don't give up hope.

I think the 17xs you see waitlisted is mostly YP.

Are you sure it was 30k because they told me that too on the phone, but it turns out it was 20k plus the 10k merit scholarship I had already gotten. Maybe if you don't get the merit they give you a full 30k, but if some peeps are getting 30k for it I would love to use that as a negotiating chip for going to BU instead of Cal.

FWIW, I doubt they would have taken the time to ask you if they were just going to flat out reject you.

For what it's worth, I had a typo on my BU app (I mispelled the name of my HS in a pretty obvious way ) and it didn't seem to hurt me. I did, however, have a complete meltdown when I noticed it a couple of weeks after submitting.

They probably just have a policy to follow up on stuff like that so people couldn't get away with leaving out information (especially character and fitness stuff) and then attributing it to oversight.

I think that is a good sign, i.e. they care enough to contact you. They asked me about what I had been doing since the Peace Corps, since I didn't list anything after that on my resume. Fortunately, I had found work a couple of weeks in advance. One week later from that question I was in.
