My interest was really high, but between the two pieces of correspondence in the last couple weeks I have almost lost desire to care.

Boo: As your numbers are well beyond Iowa's radar, keep me posted if they give you the cold shoulder as well.

I bet if you call right now and speak with the dean of admissions and tell them that you want to go there 100% but because of them giving you the cold shoulder and no scholly money is making you lose interest they will give you a scholly over the phone. 5 bucks (well if I had 5 bucks) says it will!

Could also stick a sign over my neck that reads, Hi I have no self dignity and would like to beg for your consideration. I will pass, I have other offers. . . although not a place for a LOCI I may attempt to e-mail something that states clearly my interest.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that, they're not going to revoke your acceptance and it can't hurt because you won't lose anything. It will also let them know how you really feel. If you do it politely I don't seem the harm, I know a lot of people who got off waitlists this way. But I understand if it's not your thing to be direct. I'm really blunt and forward so maybe that's why I see it this way.

So for all of you accepted and wondering about scholarship you can choose now to stay in state of ignorance or accept this as a general response that might fit your mold as well. Having been accepted two weeks ago I e-mailed them this morning about their scholarship policy. This was their reply. . .

You were sent to the Scholarship Committee shortly after being accepted and I am sorry to inform you that you have not been nominated for a scholarship at this time. Should there be an excess amount of funds after the application cycle, the Scholarship Committee will go through those who did not receive scholarships and begin awarding at that time. However, at this point you should make your decision based upon your current financial situation.

Having numbers around 75% in both categories. Do I chalk this up to YP, or just a cold response?

That is crazy, you are over their LSAT 75%, and just a hair below their GPA 75%. You can't get a scholarship I have no hope. I'm well below the 25% GPA and way about the LSAT 75%. But that doesn't matter because a 165 means as much to Iowa in terms of gaming the numbers as a 176 does.

My bad I thought their 75% was a 167. Per something I had in a spreadsheet I built. I am with you now. I'm just really frustrated with Iowa today. I better relieve myself of TLS for the day and move on.

If this is indicative of their policies on scholarships this cycle, they can expect to have to take a lot off of their waitlist. I have similar numbers to you, and if I don't get scholarship love, they are for sure an X on my list. W&M already gave me $40K+, and I'll for sure take that over Iowa sticker. (I don't care about region at this point.)

All I know is a cold acceptance letter, and a cold response for scholarships has sucked the warm and fuzzy feeling I had after the forum and subsequent e-mails with a member of their faculty.

I felt the exact same way. While their admissions process may be considered "holistic," the once you're in process seems cold and distant. Talk about turning me off of a school that seemed so interesting. Makes me wonder what the atmosphere at the school itself is like.

Of course, I may just be reading into this too much as overburdened adcomms are struggling to keep up.

Had the same impression. The acceptance letter was rather threatening and almost "collection agency"-sounding.

I agree that the letter regarding deposits, etc. seems cold but all other correspondence I've had with the school has been warm and friendly. I responded to Dean Jones' email and was pleased to see that she in turn responded with a very friendly message. I am looking forward to attending Iowa next year, as all of the people there I've spoken with have been extremely pleasant to be around.

For those of you who are concerned about scholarships hope is not lost if you have numbers similar to Padimud; I received a full tuition scholarship with these stats: 165, 3.65, excellent letters and softs, resident of Iowa. Perhaps part of the reason I received the financial aid package I did was that I sent my app in early September; the earlier you apply the more money there is available.

I would recommend contacting the law school and stating (very politely) that you will only attend (and guarantee attendance) if you receive some sort of financial aid package. I'd imagine the desire to increase 25/median/75 as well as YP would put you in a decent position to have your financial situation reversed.

Means it has been received and they have all the materials they need.

It will not change until after you are notified of a decision.

Iowa's is by far the most annoying status checker I have seen. It has very little useful information.

Supposedly the scholly offer comes a 1-2 weeks after acceptance. I still haven't heard shit either. Numbers in profile.

Alright. They FedExed my acceptance to me abroad, but I doubt they will do that for every mailing.

Eh, it's no less useful than any other. It's missing the dates but all the dates do is feed neuroticism...

It is kind of annoying because my username is different than all the others and they require 2 numbers in the password so i have to remember it separately...

I was just impatient, especially after reading about one or two receiving full rides. I just sent a quick, polite email, so I don't think I did any harm to my app.
