I too would like to practice in DC after graduating, but I've recently decided that I would still be very happy in Atlanta with my friends and family. I met with someone from UGA admissions over the summer, and asked about UGA's DC placement. She told me that after Atlanta and the state of GA, DC is their largest placement city. This is true, but the numbers aren't as great as I would like:

yea...7 out of 198 or whatever it was...that likely means someone lucky that wants to work in ATL will get off the WL later in this cycle...

Also in this morning! I submitted 10/29 and was complete 11/4 from what I recall. My first acceptance of the cycle feels good! What a relief.

Same here! UGA was my first decision either way, so it's so nice to know that I am going to law school SOMEWHERE!

"File reviewed. Held for further review."
same here. bummer. I'd afraid this means waitlisted, hopefully somebody can shed some light on it. 163 3.5 I guess I expected it though. Hopefully after I retake in December this won't be an issue.

Still doesn't top Syracuse's t-shirt that had crooked lettering.

In today via status checker! 165/3.89
I'm at UGA for undergrad now... I don't know if I want to stay in Athens or go somewhere else, have to wait and see what other options are available.

Question to UGA undergrads looking to stay for Law School: Where would you live if you went to UGA law?
I am going to need a serious lifestyle change in order to survive 1L. Better to move closer to town (ie Rivermill, 5 Points) or out of town?
Either way, a change of pace is in order!

You really can't move "out of town" because Athens is quite small. I would say living downtown or on South Milledge Ave would be best. You can take the bus to campus without waiting long and don't need a car or a parking pass- which isn't easy to get(as an undergrad, at least).
What kind of lifestyle are you looking for?

fingers crossed.. sent my app in on Friday.
How long did it take you guys to get a response from the time you sent in the app online? It seems like UGA is making quick turnarounds.

I have a couple misdemeanors on my record, so I dunno. This waiting is killing all my confidence.

I sent my app out on 11/10/09, and they still haven't received it yet! Something must be wrong. A lot of people who sent it out around that time on LSN are pending a decision now...

i got the status checker notice 13 nov and got the physical acceptance letter 18 nov (dated 13 nov). i'm a state away, so it seems the letters must not be going out the same day they're printed. the letter says that scholarships will be decided in january, so don't expect to know much more than you do now once you get it.

yea, that is kind of odd. I sent mine in on 11/5. Went under review 11/10. Got in on 13th.
That settles it, I'm going to call them.

ARGH!!! Very annoyed...my status checker has gone in order from "your file is under review" to "we have received your application but it is not complete" to "your file is under review by the admission committee" to now it says "You still need to apply" all within the last few hours...I know it is likely IT working on settings, etc in general for applications, but this is beginning to mess with my head big time.

So I just got the "held for further review" on my status checker Tuesday. I'm an out-of-state 163/3.74. UGA isn't my first choice, but it's up there on my list and I would definitely like to have it as an option! What do you guys think my chances are? Especially since so many people have already been admitted and I'm under the "164 line" people have been mentioning.

Same thing happened to me 3 hours ago. But 20 min ago I checked again & it said I was admitted!! Hope it's not a fluke! First acceptance of the cycle and took me by complete surprise!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
