How long did it take you guys to get the status checker email? It's been over a week now for me and I don't even have a log in

Checking in and still waiting for status checker as well. Submitted 10/30! Michigan has slowly moved to my top choice.

Re: Michigan Law c/o 2021 Applicants
I’d go ask in the “Ask a Michigan 1L/2L/3L” page. Most of us are also 0Ls and wouldn’t know the answer to this.littlelibertine wrote:So . . . I haven't gotten my acceptance (yet, hopefully), but I'm already looking at housing in the area.
Two questions:
1. What website do people in A2 use for housing? Hotpads? Padmapper? Trulia? Something else?
2. Where's good for living? My husband and I are both 30 and we would like to live near other older law students if possible, but if not, *away* from undergrads would be fine. We're old farts and we sleep early.

You would probably want to live in Kerry town or the old westside. I live in the old westside and it's pretty convenient ( about 10 min walking from stadium, school, main Street area). If you want to live further out it's cheaper, but it's really about whether you prefer being nearby or saving money.littlelibertine wrote:So . . . 1. There's a bunch of different property mgmt companies in AA. If you google Ann Arbor property mgmt companies, I'm sure you can find a list. I usually just go through the different property mgmt websites, type in the address on google maps for any I like to see how long the walk is to the LS, and go from there.littlelibertine wrote:So . . . 2. Agree with the person above me, Kerrytown is probably good if you want to be around "older" folks. I'd caution you all to say that going out farther isn't actually as cheap as I thought it would be. A lot of the apartments that are more like a 10-15 min bus ride away are "luxury" apartments that charge you a couple hundred dollars for the upgrades. However! If you're fine with more basic kitchens/cabinetry/appliances and carpet, then going out farther can be good.
Also, if you plan on bringing a car, 10/10 make sure you're looking for places with parking. A lot of the apartments that are a bus ride away offer open parking to all then you can pay a little extra for "covered" parking. One place I looked at had detached garages for SOME of the units.

The Northwood family housing could be a good option. A fair number of older law students live there, and it is a convenient 20 min bus ride + 6 min walk to the law school. When I looked it seemed pretty affordable compared to other locations.littlelibertine wrote:So . . . I haven't gotten my acceptance (yet, hopefully), but I'm already looking at housing in the area.

I agree. When I talked to Dean Z last week at a fair she seemed pretty genuine about it being early this week. I’m guessing Tuesday/Wednesday and totally agree that I think we’ll see a lot of movement generally this week.Platopus wrote:Tuesday. I'm not sure if you're talking about the Northwood student housing. That's on North Campus and kind of inconvenient especially compared with all the housing options on central campus (I lived there freshman year). I've always thought that the grad students/older populations live in either the north part of Kerrytown, closer to Main Street than State st, or in the area in between State and Packard south of Hill, especially the farther south you go.Those are definitely the quieter parts of town, although there are further away.

Me too. A little delayed but I guess this means we shouldn't panic if we don't make the first wave of acceptances!OhMyLaw wrote:Got my status checker today
