I got the saturday interview request too. Also part-time Pref. Waitlist.
With how late the notice is, I think it might be all DC-area people, and heavily represented by part-timers.

Hi all - apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere on the board, but as I've seen a bunch of recent posts about group interview invitations I thought it might be helpful to post my own experience from this past weekend. If anyone is wondering I am on the preferred WL.
We met with Dean Cornblatt at a law firm in midtown Manhattan. I think he met with 2 groups of 12 or 13 people each. You'll sit around a room at a big conference table and introduce yourselves. Then, the dean will pass out a packet containing different admissions scenarios. He'll break you into groups and observe you as you discuss them. He'll ask one or two people from each group about their group's consensus and your own personal opinions on the subject. Everyone will have only 2-3 opportunities to speak throughout the hour, so as long as you don't make a complete fool of yourself the session should do more good than harm.
If you're invited to one of these interviews and elect not to attend at this stage in the game you can say goodbye to your chances of admission. Hope this helps. Good luck to everyone!

He made it seem like it would be all people from the preferred wait list. I could hear him taking notes and typing as we were on the phone and said he would get back to my by May 9 or the following week and that if I didn't hear back not to be alarmed it was not a negative thing.ssitt wrote:Did they give you any info on when these 40 people should expect to hear?nsosa wrote:Law2511 wrote:Nice! I guess that explains why regular waitlisted applicants haven't heard anything recently.nsosa wrote:He made it seem like it would be all people from the preferred wait list.ssitt wrote:Did they give you any info on when these 40 people should expect to hear?nsosa wrote:Law2511 wrote:Nice! Preferred waitlist here and nothing. Trying to stay optimistic but worried that if I wasn't in the first group then it's probably not gonna happen.

Actually, I was wondering the following: It seems most people who are getting feeler calls from Georgetown are being extended interviews. So, to any of the people here who have heard back from Georgetown about their level of interest in attending off the waitlist, have you interviewed with Georgetown Law yet during this application cycle (Group or Alumni)? Or, will this be your first interview?Shib26 wrote:Preferred waitlist here and nothing. Trying to stay optimistic but worried that if I wasn't in the first group then it's probably not gonna happen.

For what it's worth, I live in DC, am on the preferred waitlist and have not ever received any phone calls or any other sort of personalized communications. I did receive the boilerplate waitlist update emails. I received the interview invite today via email.Anonnonnon wrote:Actually, I was wondering the following: It seems most people who are getting feeler calls from Georgetown are being extended interviews. Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2015-2016 (Class of 2019)
This would be my first interview. I reached out to the lady who emailed me the interview invitation, since I found it strange that they are scheduling such a late interview, when I was told I would hear late this week/early next week during my feeler phone call. She responded that she wasn't involved in the application review, so whatever I was told during the phone call remains accurate and if I'm offered admission before the interview I don't need to go. GULC, I just need to plan the rest of my life. Give me a yes or no.

hi everyone! longtime reader/first time poster here. I got a call from admissions yesterday that sounds very much like the other phone calls people have been describing here. They asked how interested in the school I am, how I feel about scholarship money, and said I would hear from them by next week, and if I don't, not to worry. For the record, I'm a full time applicant on the special preferred list, and I didn't send in a LOCI.

They made it sound like there was some money to be given out to waitlisters, but it was unclear.Roundhill wrote:How does merit aid look for those waitlisted?

I guess if there is any $$, it goes to the special preferred. The royal class got waitlisted mainly because yield protection and they can easily get into better schools with money. I don't know for the regular preferred group. Maybe they can get some minor scholarship. But for the peasant class, it is sticker price I think.Roundhill wrote:How does merit aid look for those waitlisted?

On the preferred wait list and heard nothing. My friend had similar stats and had already received two e-mails and a call. Trying not to be desperate but the silence is killing me.

So this seems to mean that there is no chance for us peasant class waitlists right? We want a revolution haha.....sirenade wrote:On the preferred wait list and heard nothing. I received an email this morning "gauging my interest." I'm on the preferred waitlist but not on the "preferred" preferred. Was this a mass email?

I have a theory that they are doing it alphabetically, and because my last name is close to the end of the alphabet, that is why I am hearing radio silence. Would your name and your friends name support this theory? If so, there is hope. we will be going there!sirenade wrote:On the preferred wait list and heard nothing. I like this theory. Preferred WL - last name toward the end of the alphabet also

Does anyone know if having taken part in a group interview is a good sign? Does this mean you might be at the top of the list?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
