Are you guys waiting to send LOCIs closer to when deposit deadlines are due for your target schools, or are you getting them in ASAP with the intention to contact your school again in May? The way I see it, I definitely want to be fresh on the minds of the admissions committee when they take the first look at the wait list.

I've heard varying opinions on this, but I went with the approach of sending an LOCI pretty quickly with the intent on sending additional ones/checking in as deposit deadlines approach. I've been limiting my contact to once a month though.GreatBraffsby wrote:Are you guys waiting to send LOCIs closer to when deposit deadlines are due for your target schools, or are you getting them in ASAP with the intention to contact your school again in May? Could you maybe PM me your LOCI? I too am having a bit of trouble with where to begin/how to structure.James.K.Polk wrote:I think it's important to dig up something new and focus on it, otherwise they might roll their eyes. That said... maybe they don't remember what was in your original application, and this can jog their memory. Is it totally inappropriate to email your LOCI to the assistant dean of admissions directly? Her personal email address is posted on the schools website, but there's also the admissions office email (which I have communicated with). Didn't know if it would come off aggressive or if she might actually read my LOCI and influence me getting in? Has anyone tried this?

Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
I have emailed supplemental materials to the dean/assist dean if they have been a contact point. For instance, I emailed a question and received a response from this person, and then later emailed directly to them (and I think I cc'ed the admissions email). If it's out of the blue, it might be a little bit awkward, but I don't see any problem with it if the email is readily available and they don't have explicit instructions on who to send supplementals to.money72592 wrote:Is it totally inappropriate to email your LOCI to the assistant dean of admissions directly? Waitlist at Michigan, Held at Northwestern pretty much right at the medians for both schools :/
The hold is even more frustrating, because it's so vague. In all likelihood it will just turn into a waitlist, but it sells an illusion of hope.

Third WL in today from UW. Could've gone either way I guess, but I'm just glad it's not a ding!

It looks like I picked a bad year to apply after the December LSAT- it appears that the uptick in high scores has made things way more competitive than the last couple years, especially for those applying later in the cycle.
Waitlisted at Duke, Cornell, and Georgetown, with UVA, Penn, and NYU looking likely as well (although Penn and NYU were a bit of a reach for me).

Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
I've been waitlisted at 6 so far: Seattle U, LSU, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Hawaii, and Louisville. My stats are 2.74/153 so I knew this was probably going to happen. Should've retaken the LSAT in February but didn't want to. Haha. And I'm probably not done yet because I'm still waiting to hear back from 6 more. I'm hoping that since these seem to be back-up schools for a lot of people that I'll have a better chance of getting off the waitlist. Just have to get them into their top choices.
We shall see.

Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
If anyone wants to PM me, I'd definitely like to have someone to bounce LOCI ideas with, and we could even proof each other's letters. I'm WLed at Cornell and Columbia, which are my top two choices (excluding Chicago, with whom I'm interviewing next week).
Also, this might have been addressed, and I overlooked it, but... what's the format for LOCIs? Are they attachments with LSAC numbers or do they go directly in the email body, for schools that don't have specific places to submit them? And if you are emailing attachments, what do you write in your email body? "Dear Admissions Committee, I'm attaching a letter of continued interest. Cheers."?

All the advice I've seen has recommended sending a printed copy via snail mail. It's more personal, and it ensures that somebody HAS to open it/look at it and stick it in your file. I included my LSAC ID# in the header after my full name and mailing address.genericwit wrote:Also, this might have been addressed, and I overlooked it, but... what's the format for LOCIs? The admissions office at my WL school actually told me to attach it to an email. I actually printed the letter, signed it like a business letter, and scanned it as a PDF attachment in an email. I got a message back with both LOCIs that I sent that they were added to my file.capricasixx wrote:All the advice I've seen has recommended sending a printed copy via snail mail. I'm sure preferences do vary from school to school. Ultimately it may be one of those details that doesn't have a huge impact on the outcome, but that we're obsessing over because there's nothing else left to do.Navyhornguy wrote:The admissions office at my WL school actually told me to attach it to an email. FWIW I visited Columbia with a hard copy of my LOCI, and the adcom told me to please email it.capricasixx wrote:I'm sure preferences do vary from school to school. BTW, I found this http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=225363
Looks like Michigan, Penn, Columbia WL are dead ends; NYU, Berkeley and Harvard draw relatively heavily.

If I remember correctly, I think Columbia actually has an upload link dedicated to uploading your LOCI.strongbadge wrote:FWIW I visited Columbia with a hard copy of my LOCI, and the adcom told me to please email it.capricasixx wrote:I'm sure preferences do vary from school to school. Also, even if it's a 'dead end,' it doesn't really mean we should give up. I mean, for all you know, you could be the person they pluck off of it. I don't think a give up before you give it your all mentality is the way to go in life, especially for future lawyers.
