Has anyone interviewed with admissions? I am going to the DC one tomorrow and I just want to get a sense of what to expect, what to wear, etc.

I interviewed with an admissions officer. It was relaxed. It was short, but they were nice. We chit chatted a bit then I was asked "why law" and "why Vanderbilt" then asked if I had any questions. I wore a button up shirt and tie and slacks. The admissions officer was wearing a button up shirt, no tie. Hope this helps.cak3893 wrote:Has anyone interviewed with admissions? Congrats to everyone that got in today! Question for those of you that interviewed: Did you receive an e-mail (or a change in your application status) after your interviewer submitted their report?

I did not, and I was very nervous about that.

I did. My interviewer submitted his report the Monday following my interview, and I received an email update that afternoon. It may have been a coincidence, though.simons wrote:Congrats to everyone that got in today! I don't think mine ever said I was under review.yallayallamohandes wrote:Hey people, did your status checker page display "Under Review" after you completed the interview?
I interviewed about 4 weeks ago. My status is still "Application Complete" since late September.

Had my alumni interview today. Way very relaxed and low pressure. I felt overdressed in slacks and a tie since my interviewer showed up in khakis and a polo with the collar popped. Anyways, I don't think the interview is anything to stress over. Just be ready to answer why law and why Vanderbilt.

How did you know your interviewer submitted their report, was it a specific email? I did my interview 2 weeks ago and ive recieved no confirmation they submitted. My application just sits at complete....though it did go complete the same day as my interview.Scalvert wrote:I did. I'm just going by what he said. He told me it would be submitted Monday, then I got an email on Monday saying my application was complete and ready to be reviewed. It sounds like maybe that's what happened in your case as well, although that's just an assumption on my part. I totally understand about being nervous, hopefully you won't have to wait as long as I did to hear something (over a month).Afterthought wrote:How did you know your interviewer submitted their report, was it a specific email? Ahh I see, was worried there was an email confirmation boat I missed. Thank you for clarifying and getting back to me so quickly, appreciate it.Scalvert wrote:I'm just going by what he said. I felt the same way.(I assumed they waited to receive my interview report to mark me complete) I think that's a good plan, but you could always message your interviewer thanking him for his time (if you haven't already). That way, if he did happen to forget, that would jog his memory.Afterthought wrote:Ahh I see, was worried there was an email confirmation boat I missed. Nothing for me yet. I suppose that's good news. I have a 155. So, I am pretty stoked not to be rejected yet. Never got any updates after the interview in early October. Maybe I'll get something this week.

Where in general are their opportunities for summer associate positions and graduates? I love the program at Vandy, but am nervous about national placement.arklaw13 wrote:Vandy 3L here. Also available to answer any questions.

Just another applicant with no inside knowledge, but almost 80% of VLS grads leave Tennessee after graduation. The alumnus I interviewed with said that he spent a summer in LA and CHI.bostonmaura wrote:Where in general are their opportunities for summer associate positions and graduates? As the poster above said, Vandy has a pretty good national reach because we don't really have a home market. Nashville is tough to get and somewhat restricted to people with serious ties. You won't have a hard time getting into any particular market because you went to Vandy. That said, it's easier to get to Chicago, for example, if you go to Northwestern. Or LA if you go to UCLA/USC. Where in particular are you interested in ending up?bostonmaura wrote:Where in general are their opportunities for summer associate positions and graduates?
