Just got accepted! So excited-- still waiting to hear from other schools but BC is a top choice for me. Anyone know how to find more information regarding housing, finding an apartment, etc?

Admitted Students page. There's a link for the housing office. You have to create an account to use it, but mine was approved in a few hours.jobz wrote:Just got accepted! Admitted on 12/02, but still waiting for mailed packet. I know people have somewhat covered this already, but is the public transportation there very unreliable? I can't afford a car, unfortunately, and ease of transportation will probably be a significant factor in my decision.

I've only heard good things about the T, but I'm not from Boston. I'd imagine you can get by with public trans, at least that's my plan if I go to BC. Heard the same here. My friend did undergrad at BC and had no trouble getting around using the T.Billy Madison wrote:I've only heard good things about the T, but I'm not from Boston. I live in Boston and take the T to work every day. But BC law is not in the same location as BC, it is much more isolated. BC undergrad has a T stop. There's an entire train that just goes to BC.pingu_boki wrote:Admitted on 12/02, but still waiting for mailed packet. To get to BC law, you can take the T or a bus, but you're going to have to walk about 10-15 minutes to get to campus regardless. Doesn't sound that bad, but it's going to get cold up here. I have no idea why it's in the middle of Newton. All of this is to say, it's manageable, but you wouldn't be living directly on the T or a bus stop. Maybe some current law students can fill us in on what they do for transportation.

Re: Boston College Law Class of 2019 applicants
I've been going to school in Boston (well just outside) for 3 and a half years now and this is the funniest thing I've heard all day. We do nothing here but complain about the T. It completely shut down for two days last winter because it couldn't handle the snow. Just last week, two people were hit by cars, a train left the station without the driver, and they announced that they are potentially canceling the green line extension.Billy Madison wrote:I've only heard good things about the T, but I'm not from Boston. In actuality though, the green line (which is what BC is on) makes a ton of stops and can be super slow and unreliable because most of it is above ground and it sits in traffic. The T also stops running at 12:30 so if you're out late you need to take an uber or a cab (bars in Boston all close at 2am anyway). It's doable, I don't have a car, but definitely not the best public transportation around by a long shot. Part of that comes from it being the oldest subway in the country. I take it a lot, and I usually just allocate extra time beyond what my maps app tells me it'll take. Sometimes that means I'm early, but it keeps me from being late to internships or missing a flight because the T decided to stop working for 20 minutes.
Like other commenters have said, the law school is pretty isolated from the rest of campus. I visited in early September, and Its a 10ish minute walk to the T, which is fine in normal weather but wouldn't be fun in the rain or snow, but I believe there is a shuttle bus.

LOL at the unmanned red line train that ran through four stops at full speed before someone stopped it. Out of everything that has happened with the MBTA, that is one of the most horrifying.
For those who don't know Beantown transportation, the red line is supposed to be one of the more reliable T lines.

Do you have to complete FAFSA before you receive scholly offers? I know they arent releasing them until the new year but just wanna make sure that I'm not behind because I haven't filled one out.

Does anyone know about scholarship info?
Does admission committee include the scholarship info in the congratulation letter, or send it by snail mail?

Did everyone's acceptance packet contain a hand written note at the end? It was a nice touch

+1, wondering if I need to fill out the FAFSA to get an aid offer. Surprised b/c received good merit aid offer from peer schools (GWU) but nothing from BC in admissions letter.thriller1122 wrote:Do you have to complete FAFSA before you receive scholly offers? I don't think you need to fill out the FAFSA for merit based scholarships. And I was told by BC that scholarship information would be released in February - not with current acceptance letters.TheLorax wrote:+1, wondering if I need to fill out the FAFSA to get an aid offer. Re: Boston College Law Class of 2019 applicants
Any advice on whether or not they'll give out a solicited fee waiver for someone riding the median GPA of last year (~3.5) and at the 75th percentile of LSATs (163)?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
