Has anyone heard anything about the Moritz Merit scholarship yet? Did all they already reach out to the students they intend to interview?

I got scholarship info about a week or two after acceptance. I would keep a watch.

Re: Moritz C/O 2018 Applicants
Thanks a bunch. I am hoping to find something very close to campus. I very much appreciate the info. I checked the OSU housing search, but like you said...a bit overpriced.buckiguy_sucks wrote:Depends how cheap and how close you want to live. One frustrating aspect is a lot of the close apartments will already be taken because of the undergrads. The apartment hunting season begins super early for undergrads (like November of the previous year). I wouldn't recommend the undergrad-y areas anyway though unless you need to have the combination of walkable and cheap. Victorian village is nice but expensive, Short North is the most expensive but has the most bars/nightlife/things to do, Grandview is nice and cheap but would need a car, the Summit/4th street area is really cheap but can get a little sketch in places, Clintonville is a bit of a bus ride but its relatively cheap (and devoid of undergrads) so it really all depends. OSU has a housing search but a lot of the places can be over priced/ a little dumpy.hbaker712 wrote:Congratulations; I'll see you there.VPlaw wrote:I got in for the Fall. I will be 1L. I am exited. I am currently on the west coast and looking for a place to live. Any suggestions are appreciated
A couple pages back we put some info out regarding housing. I have also seen a few posts on the Facebook page from people looking for roommates.

New employment data out from another thread. It looks like OSU went up quite a bit from prior year!

Yeah about a 13% boost in legal job % which is good. Anyone decide on commiting for next year? I'm having a hard time signing down for 100k debt with 70% scholly for a low chance of being able to pay it back with big law lol. Want to stay in Ohio so hard to choose another school.

If you want to stay in Ohio, I'd say OSU is the right choice. If big law is your goal, you can achieve that goal at Moritz (big law itself is more limited in Ohio than in other markets). That said, you may decide that big law isn't even what you want after you see what law school/the law profession is really like. I've seen more than one person go in thinking they wanted one practice area, only to decide they wanted to go a completely different direction.Tiddlywinks wrote:Yeah about a 13% boost in legal job % which is good. Hope that helps. Good luck with whatever you choose, but I hope I can count you among my colleagues come next year.

Anyone hear anything concerning need-based aid? Sent in form back in Feburary and nothing since.

Re: Moritz C/O 2018 Applicants
I called today to ask about that after getting the financial aid package. The guy I talked to said that the financial need grant usually doesn't come in until late-spring or summer. He said once the grant shows up that your GRAD Plus loan will be decreased accordingly. He also said that you will receive an email notification stating whether you're awarded a grant, and how much.Tiddlywinks wrote:Anyone hear anything concerning need-based aid? I guess they wait to make the awards until they have information about all the students attending and requesting aid. Hope that helps.

Yeah thanks! I got email telling me to accept my scholarship and such and didn't see any need-based one to accept yet. Was hoping they just hadn't given them out yet haha

Did anyone have to wait two or three months for a decision? This is one of two schools I have left that I'm waiting on. I'm thinking I might send a LOCI soon. I'm taking the June LSAT to try and get off the waitlist at a few places and maybe this little factoid will help some.

I'm assuming you were waitlisted and now waiting for an update, as opposed to not receiving any decision at all (even waitlist)MK7 wrote:Did anyone have to wait two or three months for a decision? In that case it never hurts to send a LOCI. But schools accept applicants from the waitlist as late as august depending on how their incoming class looks like, which you have no control over...

Nope, still waiting. I would expect it will come in shortly, but I'm not sure about that.capsoccer wrote:Has anyone received any need-based aid yet?

Well, finally heard about need added aid and got nothing. I guess being 35grand in debt from UG and potetental 100grand more from law school doesn't merit any. They've been super stingy with money all cycle and about to just withdraw and reapply next year, so annoyed lol

I doubt many people got a lot of money. I'm married, have a kid, have UG debt, etc... and didn't get a substantial amount. Good luck with whatever you choose.Tiddlywinks wrote:Well, finally heard about need added aid and got nothing.
