A bit shocked by my offer tbh. I guess certain schools just value different things when it comes to making scholarship determinations. Anyway, I guess I'll fill out the reconsideration form and see if it goes up. I really want to go to wake but I just can't do it at that COA(assuming nothing changes)

Hey Dean Shivley!
Thanks for being here to take questions. I was looking at my scholarship offer and was hoping you might be able to explain something to me.
On the Scholarship Reconsideration Request, I don't quite understand how Wake Forest is coming to its "Total Cost of Attendance" estimate. I was granted a $35,000 yearly scholarship, which when subtracted from the $42,739 estimated tuition leaves a yearly $7,739 tuition balance (assuming no tuition hikes). For three years thats a total of $23,217 in tuition. On Wake Forest's 2014 ABA 509, estimated living expenses are $20,300 yearly ($60,900 in total).
When you add that to the remaining tuition, I'm coming up with a total of $84,117 dollars. On my scholarship reconsideration form, though, it lists a total cost of attendance of $64,356.
As you've said in the past, you want the process to be as open and equitable as possible, so I'm curious if you might be able to explain the formula used to create this figure. That way applicants hoping to have their scholarships reconsidered can use the same formula when entering the total attendance costs for other schools.
Thanks again!

The COA listed on the form is a per year cost of attendance since that is the way people tend to look at these things.whitespider wrote:Hey Dean Shivley!

+1. Especially since I already visited and spoke to admissions in person, they seemed hopeful that I would be getting a decent offer. I guess I'll send in reconsideration form tooJerryLundegard wrote:A bit shocked by my offer tbh. Everyone check your spam folders! I was having a mini-panic attack about not having received anything yet and then I though to check-- turns out my offer had been sitting there for a while!
