Re: University of Florida Levin College of Law c/o 2018
My status just changed from Under Initial Review by Committee to Comparative Review in Progress. My LSAT is >75th and my GPA is just below the 75th. Anyone know why I didn't get admitted off the initial review?

Interesting ... I went into comparitive review yesterday too. Above both 75ths and a Florida resident. Whatever, though, that's cool.JMWZ wrote:My status just changed from Under Initial Review by Committee to Comparative Review in Progress. My LSAT is >75th and my GPA is just below the 75th. It's just a little strange. I got into Georgia today and I applied last Friday. Florida is rated 20 spots worse on USNWR.nosocat wrote:Interesting ... I went into comparitive review yesterday too. Yeah, I agree it is strange, assuming there's truth in the previous posts that said 165+ generally get in without CR. Are you a resident? I got an email saying I need to fill out a supplemental app to prove residency (and haven't yet had a chance to complete it), so wondering if that could be related. I'm also registered for the February LSAT, so I may email them and ask them not to hold for that, in case that has something to do with it.JMWZ wrote:It's just a little strange. I'm not a resident. But they may hold you automatically if you're registered for another test date. I know some schools do that. I'm just a little frustrated is all.nosocat wrote:Yeah, I agree it is strange, assuming there's truth in the previous posts that said 165+ generally get in without CR. Are you a resident? I received a nice hand-written postcard from Ms. Castro, the Director of Admissions, today. It was nice!
I was admitted on the 14th. Anyone have any insight as to how much time comes between the decision and scholarship info?

Yes. Check out their website. They have published GPA and LSAT criteria for who they will give them to - don't remember them off the top of my head.adil91 wrote:Does UF offer fee waivers?

They were kind of snarky if you ask for one. Managed to solicit successfully, but it had to be taken to the Dean (they claimed).nosocat wrote:Yes. Check out their website. Its a required 160 LSAT and 3.5 GPA.

I didn't get any snark when I asked for one. They didn't actually reply to my email, but instead sent me a separate email that looked more like the unsolicited fee waiver emails I received from other schools. I know it was a result of my request because it went to the email address I'd contacted them from, which is not my primary email in LSAC.TheProdigal wrote:They were kind of snarky if you ask for one. Does it* going straight to CR mean anything? YP, perhaps?

Possibly. Mine went into "Initial Review" before it went into comparative review.Hispaniclaw wrote:Similar scenario here.nosocat wrote:Interesting ... I went into comparitive review yesterday too. Do you remember how long it stayed at IR before going to CR, by any chance?

1.5% of students are attending on full or more than full rides. Roughly 12% of the class have half-schollies or better.
The short answer to your question is no--they are not generous. The only good thing is that the COA is fairly low.

"Thank you for your interest in the University of Florida Levin College of Law. We are in receipt of your application for the fall 2015 entering class. Your Law School Report was automatically requested when you submitted your application. To complete the application process, please go to http and fill out the Supplemental Data Form, Residency Form (see below), and pay the non-refundable $30 application fee. Please be advised that this is a time-sensitive part of your application, and your application will remain incomplete until this step is completed."
Is this the same fee as the one on the application from LSAC? I got a waiver so I'm confused as to why they're asking for $30 in this email. My status checker already went to Comparative Review, does any of this even matter anymore?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, that is the same as the application fee. It probably lists it because some people pay through check rather than through LSAC.Hispaniclaw wrote:"Thank you for your interest in the University of Florida Levin College of Law. "Final Decision Reached, Notice Issued" as of 1/30. Do we know if seat deposit showing up in the Fees section means an acceptance? Or was that already there before?

Any idea on how easy or difficult it is to establish residency in FL following your 1L year? I was born and raised in FL, parents still live there, but I moved to TX two years ago for work. I wonder what the process of establishing residency is. Thanks!

If you are under 24, and your parents still live there, then I am 80% sure you can establish residency right now by being their dependent.Uschoolqb10 wrote:Any idea on how easy or difficult it is to establish residency in FL following your 1L year?
