Re: University of Georgia Law c/o 2018
Just got waitlisted.
over 75th% GPA
@ the 25th% LSAT
Thought softs would tip the balance for sure. They seem like a purely numbers school GL to everyone still waiting with their heart set on Athens.

Re: University of Georgia Law c/o 2018
Not to argue with you too much, but when I got in (current 3L), my softs definitely had something to do with it. I was at median LSAT, and below 25th% GPA. It's always going to depend on the year, but don't give up hope!JerryLundegard wrote:Just got waitlisted.

The status for the waitlist shows they "would like to invite you to be on the waitlist." Do I need to email them and say I would like to continue to wait? Or will it be automatic?

Any indication on when merit scholarships will be coming out?I got the in-state equalizer with my acceptance, but I vaguely remember someone from admissions calling and saying all merit scholarships come out in February, can anyone back this up?

The acceptance email said scholarship award notifications will start February 15th so anytime after that by email I think!thomch05 wrote:Any indication on when merit scholarships will be coming out?I got the in-state equalizer with my acceptance, but I vaguely remember someone from admissions calling and saying all merit scholarships come out in February, can anyone back this up?

If you look at the graph on Law School Numbers it definitely looks like what you're saying is true. ALSO: if you look at last years graph the waitlist starts at 162 and below and this year it actually starts at 160 and below. Looks like there might have been a shift in the applicants this year!Meursault wrote:For what it's worth, and particularly for those still waiting, it seems there is some numbers bias. A friend at UGA spoke frankly with an admissions officer, and they indicated a tiered system for admissions: Top 1/3 of applicants (numbers-wise) = auto-admit, Middle 1/3 = fuller candidate analysis, Bottom 1/3 = Auto-reject.
For context, my experience:
Applied January 13th after Dec. LSAT
Accepted January 20th.
Slightly above median GPA.
Well above 75% LSAT (retake)
Also to reply to a different post, I don't think you need to email them telling them you would like to be on the waitlist unless it says to do that in the letter. Its implied that you're on the waitlist unless you tell them that you are withdrawing your application.

I can attest to this. I have a 162 and got admitted today, and I applied on the 23rd of January.applicant4321 wrote: If you look at the graph on Law School Numbers it definitely looks like what you're saying is true. If anyone is into some wild speculation, where do you think this year's median LSAT is going to land? I assume somewhere between 160-162?

Anyone know anything about when merit scholarships will be coming out? I vaguely remember an admissions officer mentioning something about a review that happens in February but I don't really remember.

Application complete 2/2, Accepted 2/5! According to the status tracker a "Scholarship Letter" was mailed today (2/5), as well, so hopefully I'll be hearing more soon.

I'm fairly certain that is the out-of-state tuition waiver. Merit offers should be coming soon though!SBUalex wrote:Application complete 2/2, Accepted 2/5! According to the status tracker a "Scholarship Letter" was mailed today (2/5), as well, so hopefully I'll be hearing more soon.

Hmm, I got accepted a little over a week ago. Out of state and didn't receive one of those. Is this a bad sign?hdaze wrote:I'm fairly certain that is the out-of-state tuition waiver. Received the Dean's Welcome letter a couple of days ago, and it was just a letter for me, nothing else (I am also out of state).JMWZ wrote:My status checker says that I'm being sent a "Deans Welcome Letter" maybe it'll be in there.

How have you enjoyed your time in Athens? What's the weather like during the school year? Also, how expensive/cheap do you find it to live there, and how easy is it to get around?

I had a wander of the campus a couple of weeks ago and the bus system seemed to be well developed. The walk around the campus was very pleasant, I must say.SBUalex wrote:Congrats!louisianimal wrote:Submitted 12/21, accepted via SC 1/7. UGA undergrad, LSAT>75%, GPA=50%.
