Can I get a sanity check here? What kinds of numbers are getting full rides? (3.7, 162, very good softs with a full ride)

Also, anyone have a cost of living estimate based on personal experience?

Champaign-Urbana is not a high CoL area. If you budget properly, $15K-$18K should be MORE than enough, possibly less depending on how frugally you live.

Also, I've asked this in another forum too but I've been accepted with a good scholly. I retook last week. They won't take back my scholly if I bombed the retake would they?
I currently live at the Village. The main problem is the internet is terrible (sometimes I can't even load a webpage) and the late night shuttle doesn't always run as advertised. It has also had numerous car burglaries and there was even a shooting this past New Years Eve. The railroad next to it is really loud as well and the insulation is quite poor so it often gets cold. Despite all the negatives i'm somehow considering signing there again just b/c the rent is so low, the shuttle is convenient during the morning/afternoon, and finding an affordable place on campus can be difficult.

If you are going to live there though, do it b/c you want to save $ or don't want to have to drive to school everyday. Don't do it b/c other 1Ls are going to live there. You will have ample opportunities to meet everyone and people will be posting about social events on the FB group all the time.

hahahahaha what? How can you possibly think that a 5 point LSAT median higher than reality is gonna come across as believable?

That being said, I love Illinois. I wish I wanted to work in Chicago, and I wish I could use it to leverage with places down here, cuz I'd totally apply

Dean Pless was later arrested for hiring a hooker. Go figure.

Strong suggestion to everybody in with money - do not be afraid to try to negotiate up. If you're close to a full tuition ride, try to get it all the way there. Urbana-Champaign is cheap as f- for living expenses and I would estimate having less than $50,000 at repayment if you're only borrowing for living expenses and school fees.

Biglaw is mostly likely not going to happen from this school so minimizing your debt is critical. ~$50k in debt should be manageable for anybody with an "average" attorney gig and a smart sense about spending habits.

Agreed that it's probably not going to happen but 28% BL+FC isn't terrible odds. That's about as good as you're going to get outside the T14 + UT/Vandy/UCLA.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
