Yah...she said that 30% of grads pursue public interest.

@missruffian
I'm sure there was no intent to deceive behind it. Admissions is just a job for adcoms. It's not like they spend all day on LST memorizing employment numbers like we do.

I specifically asked about post-graduation. And while I'm sure she didn't have an intent to deceive, I think she likely had an intent to mislead. It wasn't a number she thought of randomly. Someone had told her to answer it that way, in order to boost Chicago's PI image. My guess is that someone added up the numbers for PI, judicial clerkships, and school-funded positions to get it up to 30. So not an outright lie, but definitely misleading.

Not sure who you interviewed with, but I know there is one lady who is fairly new - I had met with her at the LA forum and she answered a question incorrectly (as I found out when I emailed another admissions director to ask about it) and they told me she was new to the team. Could be the reason for the misleading answer.missruffian wrote:I specifically asked about post-graduation. Yep, so much for hoping for an early decision. "As an applicant to our Regular Decision program, we wanted to make sure you were aware of next steps. Your interview occurred fairly early in the admissions cycle. We review Regular Decision applications on a rolling basis and will issue decisions after we have finalized our decisions for those who applied through our Early Decision program."middlebear wrote:Interviewees: open house invite?

Yeah, i just got this, and I am really struggling to ascertain the purpose of the open house invite:middlebear wrote:Interviewees: open house invite?
If you get accepted, then you can go to the admitted student's weekend events and learn about the school then. If you don't get in, then you pretty much wasted a trip to see a school you will never attend. Do you guys think that the open house could have any bearing on an admissions decision? What do you guys think?

Re: Chicago Law School c/o 2018 Applicants
Probably no bearing on admissions decision. Since the email is going out to people who interviewed really early in the admissions process, maybe the open house is just there to keep applicants interested/thinking about Chicago while they wait two months for a decision?LSATneurotic wrote:Yeah, i just got this, and I am really struggling to ascertain the purpose of the open house invite:middlebear wrote:Interviewees: open house invite?

The registration form for the open house does't ask for LSAC number, or if one applied or anything related really. I think it's open to anyone, not just those who interviewed.

The header of the email includes a shot of three loving therapy puppies.
Personally, I want to go to Chicago just to pet the pups. #itWorked
I tried to include the image, but I don't use TLS enough to know how.

You got three cute puppies? I just got a white guy (I'm assuming hopefully he's a student...) obviously this must mean they want you to attend... but not me =/ lol.

Puppies? They are sending out puppies? This is a sign. Chicago wants me.

The image is randomized - it's source is some PHP stored here: http://www.law.uchicago.edu/randomizer.php
Open it up and hit F5 a few times for the full Chicago marketing experience.

Oh that's from PAWS. We do a day of service for orientation and for one of the events we went to a no-kill shelter and stuffed envelopes then got to play with dogs. It was the best day of orientation by far.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
