I'm UR as of wed too. Does it mean anything for estimating a decision timeline?

Hey guys, super silly question: why is everyone writing the "why penn" essay? I have heard of the YP, but I just don't know where I should attach it.It's not covered by any of the four topics provided in the "optional essay" section..

The second(?) optional response, about how your goals align with Penn's strength, is basically a "why penn" question, at least I treated it as such and I'm under the impression most people do.yc820 wrote:Hey guys, super silly question: why is everyone writing the "why penn" essay? Ditto, that is the space. Per wisdom in this thread and others, Penn highly values the Why Penn essay.hereisonehand wrote:The second(?) optional response, about how your goals align with Penn's strength, is basically a "why penn" question, at least I treated it as such and I'm under the impression most people do.yc820 wrote:Hey guys, super silly question: why is everyone writing the "why penn" essay? I thought the wisdom was don't write a "Why X School" from T7 and lower? I can never keep all these wisdoms straight. Well, now I feel dumb for not writing one since I really am interested in UPenn.

What I've read here is that the most important schools to do Why X essays for are Michigan, UVA, Penn, and Duke, particularly if you're a YP candidate or on the lower end of their LSAT and GPA ranges. Schools that you definitely do not need to do one for are Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia. Some people have done them for Chicago and NYU.smile0751 wrote:I thought the wisdom was don't write a "Why X School" from T7 and lower? I can never keep all these wisdoms straight. Also, T7 isn't really a thing as far as I know, although some people use T6 to refer to HYSCCN.

Status changed to, "Under Committee Review" 11/26. Think that means a decision soon?

IF Penn gives RD decisions before the holidays, you're in a good spot to hear back this month. Think like 12/18-19.jschau23 wrote:Status changed to, "Under Committee Review" 11/26. Think that means a decision soon?
