I'm reapplying to Stanford this year. The application instructions say that a new letter of recommendation is required for reapplicants -- is there any flexibility with this? I have two academic LORs that I submitted with my first application, but I'm not quite sure where I would get a third one. Has anyone successfully asked the admissions office to process their application as complete without the additional LOR?

In my experience there was no flexibility, though this wasn't much of an issue for me I did ask.

I didn't realize there was a problem with some Stanford links and I couldn't find, and didn't even remember receiving, the status checker email, so I was starting to get nervous. But using the different link, apparently I applied on 10/07 and was submitted for review on 10/08. That seems fast, but apparently there's not really a 'complete' holding stage, so. Anyway, I'm glad I kept trying to log on!

Is this true? Most decisions don't go out until April? Or is that only for those who aren't making it in (WL, Rejections)?

Is SLS a rolling admissions place where it's best to get in LIKE NOW or is it more like Yale where applying in DEC is ok? I ask because I am on the re-take train for the DEC LSAT.

I was a WL admit last year. Quite a few of us C/O 17 got in off the waitlist. Best decision I ever made, hands down.

Would like to know this too. Trying to decide whether to apply now with a 170 (URM if this makes a difference) and then update if my December score is better, or just to wait till December. Guess my fear is that I might get straight out rejected before December scores come in

Someone please correct me if I'm way off base, but my impression from looking at LSN is that Stanford is more concerned with GPA than LSAT. Which is to say, if your GPA is in a good place, I doubt seriously that a 170 is going to be an auto-reject for you.

They definitely like GPA more than most other schools (except for Berkeley) according to their admissions index equation.
The GPA coefficient for Stanford is 22.3. Berkeley has the largest coefficient at around 26. The average coefficient is around 12.3.

Larger coefficient means more weight placed on GPA.

We have no way of knowing how much the admissions committee weighs the admissions index though.

I'm an international. GPA hasn't been calculated yet but I'm assuming it's going to be "above average". Not superior. I saw a thread a while back from a guy who got roundly rejected by HYS with a higher LSAT than me, and an above average (non URM though). Really crazy because a high 2:i, which is what I have is a good degree. To put it in some kind of context, I have a 66. 67.5-100 are all the equivalent of a 4.0.

Short story: no idea really where my GPA puts me, but nowhere amazing

Internationals aren't counted towards URM numbers regardless of their race, isn't that right?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
