I was put on reserve back in February. Silence ever since. On the West Coast and nothing in the mail. I'm not exactly hopeful.

Do they send a rejection letter to international applicants by mail?
Did any international applicants get the mail?

I think I read previously that they are sent mail as well but I'm not 100% positive

For what it's worth -
Called admissions and was informed the class is currently full, but people often still withdraw. They don't expect to make acceptances until mid to late July.
Not the best news.

Ugh. Not sure how their class is full with everyone jumping ship to HYS, so I'm pretty sure that's bullshitwade wrote:For what it's worth -

They probably intentionally over-enroll and factor some of the summer attrition in.james.bungles wrote:Ugh. Not sure how their class is full with everyone jumping ship to HYS, so I'm pretty sure that's bullshitwade wrote:For what it's worth -

Time for the unevidenced speculation:
They probably just said that just to surprise us all on Friday to mass accept us all!

Re: Columbia Reserve C/O 2017
Every law school admits many more students than their desired 1L class size because there is a ton of overlap in applicants. Only YLS has the luxury of admitting close to the desired number since its yield is 80%. CLS has a yield % in the 30s, meaning they have already admitted over 1,000 students knowing full well that most of them will attend another school.
I can't say for sure why there have been no reported reserve --> admits yet, since I don't think this cycle is drastically different from last year. My best guess is that they are considering shrinking their 1L class size to maintain LSAT and GPA medians. CLS has gone from 400+ in 2010 to about 350 last year. So maybe they are reducing the class even more this year, and that's why there has been no movement on reserve.

Re: Columbia Reserve C/O 2017
When I talked to admissions today, there was no indication that the class size was decreasing. She said the wait list simply depended on who, of those admitted, choose other options. Their class is full, from what I gather, right now.james.bungles wrote:makes sensestugots wrote:Every law school admits many more students than their desired 1L class size because there is a ton of overlap in applicants. Re: Columbia Reserve C/O 2017
I would say they'll probably keep the class size roughly the same as last year if just a little smaller. Schools usually take years to cut class size down considering they'd have to also account for the fact that less students mean less $$$ and they'd also have to make faculty cuts which take long as well.Dr.Zer0 wrote:I guess that's one way of outranking Chicago.stugots wrote:Every law school admits many more students than their desired 1L class size because there is a ton of overlap in applicants. I also just called their office and they wouldn't tell me how many students remain on their wait list (she said it fluctuates too much), she also said that they don't know how many offers they'll make this summer but that it depends on what happens with their current students so I'm assuming they're full now. And if what I remember from LSN for last year is correct, Columbia doesn't take too many people from the wait list.

We should all mass call them until they get annoyed enough to start movement on the waitlist
