Why don't you just get a LOR from your employer?

1. You should be able to select more when you go to "Add Recommenders" through LSAC. Can't remember if the app just asks for one name but if so, then give the name of whichever recommender is your #1.objection_your_honor wrote:Just a few questions:

You'll receive an email within about 3 weeks after submitting your application instructing you to log into a portal which will give you the contact info of your interviewer. Here's a question: how do the facts that Chicago is mad expensive and I will be mad broke affect the upsides of living in such an awesome place? I love everything I know about NU as a school and it's one of the best schools I've got a solid shot at, but I'm scared of living in a high-priced metro with near zero funds. Hasnt really been my experience. There's ton of stuff to do that's just not that expensive. Just last week I went and saw TJ and Dave do improv for $5. It wasn't even really five dollars because micdiddy bought the ticket and i bought him a root beer. And as far as city living goes Chicago is far less expensive than NY, DC Boston, or San Francisco. Not just marginally but substantially cheaper. Can you go do everything that Chicago has to offer all of the time? No you're poor and in law school. Can you do some of it a decent amount of time? Definitely. Until November. The day after Halloween your soul will begin to evaporate so that you coudn't enjoy anything even if you could afford the time or money it entails. It's a blast.
Most people live in Streeterville but you can live north of school and save a ton of money and the commute is really not so bad. But I live in Lakeview/Boystown so I'm biased.
tl;dr: Cost should definitely be a factor in your decision but i don think the COL of NU vs. UVA should be, not really. YMMV
Shocked to find out that Boston is substantially more expensive than Chicago. idk why, I guess I just think of Boston as a small-town because of where I've spent my time there vs. my time in Chicago. Yeah I've got less fear of missing out for myself, since I'm planning on spending most of my time working on school stuff (at least as a 1L) anyways, than my SO (who will probably make more working in chicago than va anyways). Also, I might wind up in a position that renders this moot, like if NU offers me $$ and uva doesn't, so it's fairly presumptive, I just wanted to get some input on this. Thanks for your perspective and any other inputs from chicago/NU folks are welcome

I'm still an applicant but being from Michigan, I've spent a fair amount of time in Chicago - and it's cold. I obviously don't know where you're from but I'm used to some pretty bitterly cold weather and I'm still always a bit shocked at the temperature/wind. Regardless, NU is my top choice and I'd brave some bitter weather to be there. Brutal! Well, its not like you're in North Dakota or something - it's manageable. If you get in/decide to go, do some shopping on outdoorsy websites during the summer, you'll be able to get great deals on stuff like winter coats, boots, etc etc that you'll need throughout the winter. Seems like EDing NU might provide a very substantial boost, but the table that applies specifically to splitters is still being put together, to be released later today. I'm planning on applying ED since NU is my top choice. I know I am outside of the range for the scholarship, so I expect to be rolled into the RD pool. Will this provide an admissions bump? Is there any way this would hurt my chances? I can make the on-campus interview deadline.
