But anyway, I got lots of wonderful advice on this site from fantastic (now) 2l's and am more than willing to help the future NU generation out as well.
PM any questions you guys might have about the school, application process, whatever. Gl with all your applications and all that.
Edit- I should mention I did not interview, so don't ask me about that part of the process.
Here's a question: how do the facts that Chicago is mad expensive and I will be mad broke affect the upsides of living in such an awesome place? I love everything I know about NU as a school and it's one of the best schools I've got a solid shot at, but I'm scared of living in a high-priced metro with near zero funds. It's one of the bigger factors making me hope for a school like UVA, in a city where rent will be half as much, everything's cheaper, etc.
How much should COL factor into my equation? Are most of the upsides of Chicago muted by the fact that I won't be able to afford them?

Hasnt really been my experience. There's ton of stuff to do that's just not that expensive. Just last week I went and saw TJ and Dave do improv for $5. It wasn't even really five dollars because micdiddy bought the ticket and i bought him a root beer. Which reminds me, dude i still owe you like 1.37 probably.
And as far as city living goes Chicago is far less expensive than NY, DC Boston, or San Francisco. Not just marginally but substantially cheaper. Can you go do everything that Chicago has to offer all of the time? No you're poor and in law school. Can you do some of it a decent amount of time? Definitely. Until November. The day after Halloween your soul will begin to evaporate so that you coudn't enjoy anything even if you could afford the time or money it entails. It's a blast.
Most people live in Streeterville but you can live north of school and save a ton of money and the commute is really not so bad. But I live in Lakeview/Boystown so I'm biased.
tl;dr: Cost and location should definitely be a factor in your decision but i don think the COL of NU vs. UVA should be, not really. YMMV
