Grats! How long does it take for them to mail the offer?

Was accepted early January, got the email saying I was receiving a merit scholarship this past Wednesday - mail came fast!lhanvt13 wrote:Abbey wrote:Letter just came in the mail - 10,000/yr scholarship. must stay in top 1/3 of class to renew each year. good luck to everyone else waiting! In the same boat, but that Top 1/3 stip is ridiculous. Anyone considering it, please negotiate to get it dropped as best you can. Despite their claims of your academic achievement, this is a scam trying to lure applicants in while potentially not having to pay them beyond the first year. Especially if you're OOS, it's definitely not worth the gamble.Abbey wrote:Was accepted early January, got the email saying I was receiving a merit scholarship this past Wednesday - mail came fast!lhanvt13 wrote:Abbey wrote:Letter just came in the mail - 10,000/yr scholarship. must stay in top 1/3 of class to renew each year. good luck to everyone else waiting! It definitely does make me nervous, if Mason ends up being where I want to go I may try to use other offers to negotiate although I haven't heard much about negotiating stips, just monetary amounts.matthewsean85 wrote:In the same boat, but that Top 1/3 stip is ridiculous. They even tell you that they expect 40% to keep their scholarships, albeit at top 25% of the class. Maybe they won't negotiate with applicants, but in that case, doesn't that make you the least bit nervous?
I called earlier this week and was told "mid-March". While it could, indeed, be true that they won't annouce them until after deposits, that's an expensive way to attend law school and a terrible way to attract top students.hoogs23 wrote:They said a lot of scholarships are not coming out until they know of people having put down their deposits??? Congrats! I am very into tech but never done any formal schooling on it. The Mason program intrigues me. Good places to live? Anywhere in the area that is cheap enough for you. Depends how close to the school you wanna be and if you wanna metro/drive in. If you want to metro then you can find cheaper places further west on the orange line (Falls Church, Dunn Loring/Merrifield, Vienna). What's your price range? My condo in Merrifield might actually be up for rent in August/September. PM me if interested (3 bed/2 bath).lyra4 wrote:Just got the phone call that I am in!!!!!![]()

Wow.
I'll be going to the Admitted Students Day coming up in April, and I guess we'll be apartment hunting very soon. Where are good places to live nearby? We'll have my husband's BAH (housing allowance for non military folks) to cover rent, so we're hoping to find a decent 2-3 bedroom close to the metro or the law school.
Curious if anyone else is a non trad- I've been working for 10 years as a software engineer (Microsoft, Google, startups) and am going for the Tech & Law program. Anyone else interested in this stuff?

There's no way it's true. But if it is, yeah, then I'll be going somewhere else. Guess we'll just wait and see.lookingin wrote:hoogs23 wrote:They said a lot of scholarships are not coming out until they know of people having put down their deposits??? Can this be true?
Haha if that's true I'm just going to go ahead and withdrawal... definitely not the way for them to attract students...
