Re: University of San Diego c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-13 cycle)
I sent my app in around 2/1, decision rendered around 2/15th, in evening program with 15k/yr renewable.
I'm really thinking about going, a little bit more money would probably seal the deal for me. I went to the LA reception last week, and chatted with folks in the admissions office and followed up with an email to see if they can increase the scholly money.

Any idea on if we should do a letter of continued interest for USD when waitlisted? Also, anyone know the stats regarding waitlists at USD? I know they don't rank students, but that's all the email said...

Anyone have off campus housing ideas coming from out of state? Not sure if I should live alone or find another law student.

Just withdrew. Hope the $25,000 a year grant goes to someone else.

What is the protocol for rejecting their offer of admission? I was accepted to TFA and I'm deferring admission to an MPP program. Law school is not for me.

I have been accepted but am hesitant on living in San Diego because its so expensive. Anybody from there and know any area in town thats not super expensive but would be good for husband, wife and a baby?

From the acceptance packages I've received, they have a line you can check that says you are rejecting their offer of admission and then you get options to describe why you are not attending that school.

Mission Valley is your best bet. <5 minutes to USD campus, very family-friendly, decent COL. Only downside is it's very "strip mall"ish- where all the big box stores are (Costco, IKEA, etc.). Also, Clairemont Mesa, and Ocean Beach is very reasonable if you have a little hippie in ya.mewalke1 wrote:I have been accepted but am hesitant on living in San Diego because its so expensive. why isnt USD ranked higher? employment data is on par with Hastings.. is it because of median LSAT/GPA?

Re: University of San Diego c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-13 cycle)
Good Afternoon!
I've lurked around these boards for about the last year or so and finally signed up.
Anyway, I received my acceptance letter to USD and scholly information about two weeks ago. I tried negotiation for more but was told 'no thanks'. Like some of you, I have the deposit deadline fast approaching and have yet to even hear back from some schools. I don't anticipate I'll hear anything from those in the next 4 days so I paid the deposit, just in case. Worst case scenario: I'm out $300.

Unfortunately I don't really have anything to bargain with.
"I'm getting $31k from another school! But it's barely ranked..."
"I'm waitlisted at a T20! Oh wait that was last year's ranking..."
"I'm waitlisted at the oldest public law school in the state!"
"I applied to Stanford!"
=[
