Accepted today with a $10,000 per year scholarship!
I'm very excited about this!
Good luck to all of those who are still waiting.
By the way, I did the interview and ended it pretty awkwardly. So there is hope for all of you who are also unsure about how your interview went!

It was not as bad as I thought it would be.
They give you either 60 or 90 seconds to answer each of the five different questions through a webcam portal. The first two are generic and I think that the last three are randomized. I practiced for the first two and was a little more nervous for the final ones. It ended awkwardly when I lost track of the time and finished the last question mid-thought, mid-sentence. Haha, oops!

I got accepted today with 10k a year! I really would love to go to Wake but I'm not sure that 10k a year is enough.

Accepted today as well! $24,000/year. 163/3.48 (top undergrad) and (what I think, anyway) some pretty solid "soft" factors.

Seems like Wake is being quite generous with the scholarships! Now it is just a matter of comparison

I got accepted last week with scholarship money! Did anyone else get a call from the Dean of admissions informing them they were accepted?
Also, if there is any current Wake Forest law students on here could you tell me about the Wake Forest owned properties?
Is anyone else going to the accepted student open house in Feb?

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
Checking in! Applied over the weekend, got the confirmation email this morning. The email I received said any application received before February 5th will be reviewed by March 1. It sounds like a similar timeline was set for those who applied before January 4 for January 31. It seems like they've had a few batches of acceptances, so I'm hoping that being closer to the January 4 date than the February 5 date will spell a quicker timeline, since March 1 seems like a lifetime away. After visiting Wake's campus as well as seeing how attentive they are through the application process both via email and through TLS, I'm very excited about the possibility of being in Winston-Salem next year!

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
Hey! Checking in, although I have a question for current Wake students and/or other applicants. I was admitted to Wake with $$ on 12/20/12, and I've heard great things about the school. However, I was also accepted to UNC-CH on 12/20/12 and expect some scholarship $$ when they dole it out in March. For any applicants/current Wake students who are deciding between these two schools, what factors influenced your decision? Why are you leaning toward one or the other? I would love some help deciding between them! Thanks

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
The Wake vs UNC debate has been covered extensively in the past. But I think I can dull it down to a couple points.
1. Which is cheaper? They are peer schools, one could argue Wake places slightly better in biglaw and that UNC has a bigger network. Ive lived in Raleigh my whole life and around here, UNC is probably viewed as having the slight prestige edge. But really, its the same school in different locations
2. Small school vs large school
3. If the tuition comes out to be basically equivalent, where would you rather live/which school strikes your fancy. I can tell you for a fact that UNC kids are more snobby than Wake, both for undergrad and law school. Chapel Hill, however, is a MUCH more awesome place than Winston Salem.
If there is substantial money difference, go where it is cheaper. If tuition is the same, take your pick.

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
I am a 1L at Wake. I will try to answer everyone's questions.
1. Regarding Wake properties- I know a couple people that live in them. They are decently priced and close to campus. I don't know that much about them- I chose to get an apartment so I could live alone- but if you are willing to have a roommate or roommates it isn't a bad option.
2. The classic Wake v. UNC debate- it depends. I was out of state, so UNC wouldn't have been too much cheaper than Wake. And I got a great scholarship from Wake. Personally, I like the small town feel of Winston-Salem and the small environment of Wake. My section only has 45 students in it, much less than you will find at nearly any school in the country. My professors knew my name in a week. I know nearly everyone in my class. Also, I liked that the professors are so open here- they want to see you succeed. And my peers are helpful and collegiate- even during finals there was no crazy competitive energy. I liked that a ton.
The scholarship and class size were the deciding factors for me. But really they are peer schools, so it comes down to where you want to live, the amount of debt you'd have from each school, and your personal preferences.

I'm from Miami too. Winston is definitely NOT Miami. But it isn't too bad. There are decent bars and restaurants. And some pretty interesting things to do other than that too. But honestly, I don't have a ton of time these days to explore.itachiuchiha wrote:Still an extremely boring place. Sure, no problem. 4.0/164. Pretty good softs, but nothing spectacular there. Hope that helps, and good luck to you!

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
Just got a call from the admissions dean congratulating me on my acceptance and informing me that I will get the admitted student packet at the beginning of February. She said they are having a few open houses and an ASW in February and March. Offered to reduce the seat deposit if I attend and open house.

I also got a call from the admissions dean this morning informing me of acceptance, even though I was admitted almost a month ago via email
She didn't mention anything about scholarships even though the email I received in December told me $23k/year, kind of odd.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
