I feel like UW is all about the diversity, and I'm just simply not diverse. The optional essay might have saved my ass though. I wrote about how I wanted to open a non-profit center for adult education, because I believe education is the most beneficial factor towards a greater society.

Well, that sounds like a great topic for you to choose to write about, and I think it will set you apart from the crowd. Especially since you chose to write the essay. It shows you are serious about your admittance there!

I don't really think I have a chance but I wish UW would stop being such a tease and just give me a decision already. Been in review for a month now... The LSAC calculator gave me a 20% chance based on LSAT and GPA and my softs are decent. I'm pretty sure I rocked the personal statement and the optional essay. Not sure I want to wait until April to know where I'm going when I already got in to my second choice.

So, my fall 2012 grades boosted my GPA from a 3.706 to a 3.758. My last transcript I sent to UW was before I received fall grades. Anyone think it'll make a difference if I send them an updated transcript? I'm probably so far along in the process that it doesn't much matter.

idk... but a 3.7 and a 3.75 is a significant jump... I'd update your transcripts at all schools.

email'd just to be sure. they actually just let me submit an addendum explaining the increase. they didn't want to see transcripts because it would put a hold on my file. efficient! there's that little bump I need to get in

I'm in a similar situation. As a UW undergrad (Go Dawgs!), I can tell you it does not surprise me in any way that UW isn't very efficient. I hope a big wave of admits is coming soon.

I have heard rumors of the same, but nothing authoritative. UW likes out of state tuition money, and WA residents get such a big discount that it makes more sense for them to accept more out of state applicants instead.

Are there any other Gates PSL applicants here? Basically I would go to UW in a heartbeat with the scholarship, but I have NO idea of how many people apply, though it seems like perhaps not so many considering how little mention there is of the scholarship on these boards??

I'm not qualified to apply for it, so I did not. From what I can gather, past winners have extensive related WE/Volunteering on top of high end stats for UW, so it seems fairly competitive.
