I did Vandy for undergrad and I know a fair amount about the law school. PM if you have any questions about the school, nashville, places to stay when you visit, etc

In the first wave everybody reported receiving the package on the same day. They ship Fedex 2-day so it is rather strange that you don't have anything yet.Regulus wrote:Has anyone NOT received something from Vandy via snail mail since the status checker changed to "Decision Sent: 11/30/2012"? I live in a neighboring state and so it seems weird that it would take an entire week for something to get to me, but maybe I'm just being paranoid...

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
Yeah I dunno... I think the rest of us 11/30 DLS all received our packages on 12/4. Some people have reported getting e-mailed by Fedex, but I never got anything like that - perhaps that requires specifically having an account with Fedex? My guess is also that it got lost in the mail, but idk if that's typical with Fedex or not, though the USPS sucks and messes up mail all the time.Regulus wrote:Crap.... that's what I figured. I hope it didn't get lost in the mail or something. I wonder if I should call them tomorrow... Is there something on their site that says they ship Fedex 2-day that I could use as an ice-breaker if I call them?Crowing wrote:In the first wave everybody reported receiving the package on the same day. Just had my interview. I submitted my application about 6 weeks ago. Does anyone know when my application will be reviewed now. Is it as if only now my full application is in? It do they treat my application as if its been complete for a while?

I think you can probably expect a decision rather quickly. My interview was on Sunday 11/18, and ofc the next week was Thanksgiving week and Vandy's adcomms were off the whole week. My status went DLS on Friday 11/30 of the following week.Bourgl wrote:Just had my interview. I submitted my application about 6 weeks ago. Does anyone know when my application will be reviewed now. Did my interview last week - my app was complete before the interview was done. I feel like that's kind of weird. Congrats to everyone who got in!!

My app was complete in September, interview early October, then accepted almost two months later. Not sure if you can predict anything on their timeline. Though it does seem like they are active now so hopefully it won't take two months for you to hear!Crowing wrote:I think you can probably expect a decision rather quickly. As for the poster waiting for his/her box: I would definitely call and ask. They used FedEx two day I think and if something is shipped that way and it doesn't get there in two days then something is up. Maybe they sent it to the wrong address?

Well, may have screwed myself over. Didn't know there was a deadline for interview sign up of Dec 1. Applied today and realized it. Still sent in my app since I had a fee waiver but with no interview, I doubt my chances. Damn it.

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
Did my interview today. It went really well and the guy was super helpful. He said he'd put in a great recommendation for me. He was actually a transfer to Vandy from George Mason because he didn't get into Vandy when he applied initially. He said the culture at Vandy is a lot better than other schools because they don't do class rankings and it's less cut-throat. When I told him that I have some family connections to Nashville he seemed to act like that was really important, although he didn't explicitly say that. Overall it was very casual and it felt like he was really interested in my answers.
He's actually from my state and actually raised some concerns about the state school that is one of my safeties. Evidently they waited to give him a decision until March (he applied fairly early) and didn't give him any merit award (despite numbers that are well above 75th's). The school has really good matriculation rates, which I'm guessing is the result of some hardcore YP. I'm hoping that doesn't happen to me.

I had my Vandy intervirw a few days ago, by phone with alumni. Like a lot of people said before, it was extremely laid-back and it was mostly about him selling Vanderbilt to me. He gave me a lot of useful information about the school and Nashville.
Good luck everyone! (and congrats to those accepted!)

In today, decision mailed 12/5. Waiting for scholarship information in the coming months, but hoping to be in Nashville!

Just got a super-nice phone call from the lady I interviewed with back in October, just to touch base, congratulate me, and tell me some stuff about ASW.
Vandy, you're so damn sweet! That Southern charm, I'm guessing.

So did I basically screw myself over by applying a few days ago and not realizing the interview signup deadline was Dec. 1? Numbers are 169/3.6. Do I still have a chance at acceptance without interviewing?

No way. You should be good with that 169. Especially in this cycle.nsideirish wrote:So did I basically screw myself over by applying a few days ago and not realizing the interview signup deadline was Dec. 1? Numbers are 169/3.6. Do I still have a chance at acceptance without interviewing?

I think you're fine. I submitted in September without requesting an interview and was asked to do one in November... But from the way the e-mail was phrased it literally sounded like they had already made a decision and were just offering me an opportunity to do one to learn more about Vandy. I was admitted pretty much immediately after interviewing.nsideirish wrote:So did I basically screw myself over by applying a few days ago and not realizing the interview signup deadline was Dec. 1? Similar story here, minus a decision. Applied September, interviewed in October. My numbers make me less likely to get in, but hey, I got waitlisted two years ago with a 163 after applying in February, so why not?BigZuck wrote:My app was complete in September, interview early October, then accepted almost two months later.
