Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2015
Fastest turnaround yet of my cycle. Applied 3/2, in review 3/12, accepted today. Seeing as I probably won't receive my admissions packet for a few days, can someone please tell me when are the admitted students days? I saw someone mentioned the 17th and someone else mentioned the 24th. Are there multiple days?

NM, just received e-mail about this weekend. Is anyone going? My sister lives in downtown brooklyn and I was thinking about going to see her this weekend anyway... so this might work out well.

I wouldn't worry about your LSAT. Your GPA is great and while it's difficult to predict URM acceptances, I think you'll definitely receive an acceptance. What has your cycle been like so far? Good luck!!!chw123 wrote:I am heavily considering Hofstra, would anyone mind looking at my numbers and see what my chances of admission are? I just submitted my app yesterday a little late i know

Very young! I've applied to everywhere I'm applying this cycle (most of them were also late apps, due to taking the feb lsat) and haven't heard anything back from anywhere yet, but i'm only about a week into past complete at most schools, so fingers crossed!Sherlock1708 wrote:I wouldn't worry about your LSAT. What was the hold up? and I looked at your profile, a Native American from Oklahoma? I would assume you are an automatic. Have you been rejected anywhere?

I applied 2/23, completed 2/27 and accepted 3/7. I have still not received an admission packet...

Actually, now that I know you are Native Amer, I am 100% you will receive an acceptance. It can take a while for your status to go complete or into review, depending on the volume of applications, but once they review your app, I'm sure you'll hear a decision very quickly. You'll probably even receive a scholarshipoleosmirf wrote:What was the hold up? and I looked at your profile, a Native American from Oklahoma? I would assume you are an automatic. Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2015
The hold up was my Feb LSAT. I applied everywhere in the fall but unfortunately all my applications were incomplete until my score posted last week. I haven't heard back form anyone yet, though i'm literally only "complete" at all my schools for a week now. I'm extremely nervous due to my low LSAT. I'm a horrible test taker. 22 on my ACT and then a 3.64 in Russian Language. I'm a hard worker and I've been told i'm rather intelligent (no boasting intended, just simply evidence in support of academic success v. low standardized test scores), so i'm confident i will do better in law school than my LSAT would suggest.oleosmirf wrote:What was the hold up? and I looked at your profile, a Native American from Oklahoma? Is anyone else interested in the JD/ MS in Taxation?
Who else is going to visit this weekend? I'll definitely be there on Saturday.

Thanks for the pep talk! lol. I would be so pumped if I got a scholarship! I'm definitely interested in trying to get into the NY legal market (not nec big law) I've also applied to Cardozo.Sherlock1708 wrote:Actually, now that I know you are Native Amer, I am 100% you will receive an acceptance. Got in yesterday. Still waiting to hear on others, but Hofstra's definitely under consideration. Does anybody know much about the housing situation? It was discussed a bit on my tour, but I'm curious what people are planning on doing and where students tend to live. From what I've been told, the on-campus housing is a disaster.

I'm living off-campus. I believe only about 120 grad students dorm and that's from ALL graduate divisions, not just law students.DC818 wrote:Got in yesterday. I found an apartment that's relatively pricey but I love it.
You can probably find something decent through Hofstra's off-campus housing search. They have apartments listed as well as a service to match roommates. I opted not to go through that process, but I know people who have set up great living arrangements in the past through this service.

How long did it take for you guys to receive a packet in the mail. I was accepted 3/7/12 and its been over a week.
I would also like to know if there is any information in that packet that I would need for the students day tomorrow.

Is anyone taking the LIRR to the open house tomorrow? Are taxis readily available at the Hempstead Station?

I would search online for taxi companies in the area and call them.

Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2015
Hi everyone, I currently go to Hofstra.
For people who are considering the commute from the city/Brooklyn/Queens, there is a reliable campus shuttle that picks students up from Mineola and Hempstead Train Stations. The current schedule is located here: http://www.hofstra.edu/pdf/about/infoce ... huttle.pdf
I don't personally use it, but I know many people who do. It runs on a limited schedule on the weekend. You may not want to rely on it for the Admitted Students Weekend, but I just figured I'd throw that in there in case the commute was a factor in your decision. I know several people who live in Brooklyn/Queens and got rid of their cars, so they use the shuttles and LIRR exclusively to get around.
I'm not going to be at the Admitted Students Weekend, but a lot of current students will be at the lunch reception. They're a great resource for all of your questions. I recommend getting to know them!
If you're not attending the ASW, feel free to ask me some questions.

Anyone having trouble with the status checker since they changed their site? Every time I try and go on I get an error saying I need to access it from the school's site...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
