Hi guys - I'd really appreciate some advice on this...
I got WL last year @ American, and am thinking of applying again now. Nothing will really change about my app this year except that I will get it in now rather than the last possible deadline. I can't take the LSAT again - I really can't - am constantly on the go with a job that has me overseas in developing areas 80-90% of the year, no joke. In fact, I tried a couple times in the past months and had to cancel LSAT sitting because I was deployed at last moment's notice. So I could revamp PS, but...what do you think about reusing the same recommendation letters. They were really fantastic - one of the best parts of my app package, and they are super busy people that I don't want to ask again to rewrite. Thoughts? Can I reuse? Even with last year's dates? Waste of time and app fee to apply again? I really have my heart set on AU and really not excited about going anywhere else...

What do your stats look like?

As for the PS/recommendations, I think it would be a good idea to add another good LOR to your previous ones, and I would certainly rewrite/completely change your PS. You have to think that if you got WL before with your current stats/LORs/PS, why would anything change if you resubmitted the same or similar materials?

If you improve everything and write a new, solid PS, you would have a better chance than you had before. It really depends on your stats though.

edit: And be sure to address how you have improved in the past year. They will be curious to see what you have done to improve your application since being WL last year.

Hate to admit this here, but 156/3.0. I did, however, go to a prestigious grad school 5 years ago and graduate with a 3.8, but obviously grad school doesn't seem to count in this arena. I have amazing softs though, which is probably what got me on the WL; otherwise, wouldn't have even bothered applying. I will indeed have to rewrite PS - shoot; I worked on it for months and thought that it really highlighted all my softs and why I decided to go back to school now. Thx for your feedback.

Are you a URM? For a URM that is even very borderline....If you're not a URM you must have had very good softs, and you need to play those softs up even more.. Rewrite your PS definitely and I agree with getting another LOR...If they WL you before, that late in the cycle, I definitely think that you would have a good shot if you applied by the end of the year/very early January. But you really have to show that you grew within the year off... So I suppose something else about you should make them want you...Something that you didn't show them in the previous round. Don't give up hope. It really doesn't hurt to try, and I think you may have a shot.

No prob. Is there absolutely no way you could retake though? Because that would SERIOUSLY increase your chances if you got into the 160's.
