Congrats! I wasn't able to answer the phone when I got the call. They just informed me about the 75% scholarship. If its a 2.8 requirement that will make it a hard choice since its a good amount for a rising school.kmokeefe wrote:got my package earlier this week, 75% scholly here too. they told me on the phone that i had to maintain a 3.0 but the package said 2.8.tooswolle wrote:Has anybody received their acceptance package? Interesting. I was told 3.0, but then my letter says I only have to remain in good standing, which is a minimum 2.5. The letter is what counts.tooswolle wrote:Congrats! My letter says, "...this scholarship is renewable based on satisfactory academic progress (a minimum grade-point average of 2.80 at the end of the preceding academic year)..."cvargas84 wrote:Interesting. The lack of consistency is definitely weird.

I think the discrepancies are due to the kind of scholarships we received respectively. Like the trustee scholarship, Kongs Scholarship and all the GPA ones etc.

Just got my admissions packet. I have a 2.5 stipulation on my scholarship. It's pretty awesome to say the least. Anyone know how MSU looks like to employers in MI? I'm seriously considering this school and the move to MI.

If you plan to graduate in the top 1% of your class and you do a tremendous amount of leg-work, you might get an interview at a decent firm.tooswolle wrote:Just got my admissions packet. Re: Michigan State c/o 2015
Hey guys. I just received my acceptance letter in the mail this weekend. I'm excited and disappointed at the same time. I'm a URM, and I know plenty of URM's with the my exact same numbers who got at least $25,000 scholarships. My letter says "The Scholarship Committee has considered you for non-repayable financial assistance. While we are unable to provide you with such assistance for your first year of studies, you will be provided a half-, three-quarter, or full tuition award should you achieve a grade-point average of 3.60 or higher in your first year of full-time studies at the Law College."
What are some possible reasons they didn't award me any money now? I applied in early October, don't have anything on my record...good ps...:/

Anyone looking at going to the admitted students day? If so what day? I'm considering it but just started crunching the numbers and it's pretty expensive. Wish they offered more in stipends.

I'm going. Haven't decided on the day. Does anyone know if there is any advantage to going on one day over another? I'm thinking (may be wrong) that the first day available, a Thursday, would be probably more full of students and people at the law school since it's a week day, and therefore more representative of what the environment is going to be like? Maybe I'm over thinking ittooswolle wrote:Anyone looking at going to the admitted students day? If so what day? I'm considering it but just started crunching the numbers and it's pretty expensive. I have no idea. They have several grants of up to 50% tuition for those not awarded scholarships, so you may wanna look at those on the website.Jolly_J88 wrote:Hey guys. Re: Michigan State c/o 2015
congratulations! I live in Michigan and from my personal perspective from speaking with lawyers here during my research while debating between the different regional law schools here, MSU has the most brand name recognition in the state (after U of M, but of course that goes without saying.) I have also gotten in touch with a few alumni that currently practice in Chicago.tooswolle wrote:Just got my admissions packet. I have a 2.5 stipulation on my scholarship. I'm planning on the 10th, though we will come to town on the 9th to scope out possible childcare and housing options.cvargas84 wrote:I'm going. Haven't decided on the day. And can I just say, if it weren't for the follow up emails from the Dean, I think I would be sick with worry. I still haven't received my fat envelope and it has been nearly two weeks since the Voicemail. The USPS needs to upgrade its ponies!

Does MSU give any stipends for visits? I am seriously considering MSU b/c of the half tuition (hopefully 75% when I send in this semesters transcripts as my GPA jumped over 3.5 which would put me at the next scholly) but it would be nice if they gave money for us to visit.

The stipend request form is on the AS website: $150 or $300.acirilli1722 wrote:tooswolle wrote:Anyone looking at going to the admitted students day? If so what day? I'm considering it but just started crunching the numbers and it's pretty expensive. Wish they offered more in stipends.
