Tonight's pot luck was awesome. Anyone else love the 2L's attempting to study in the lounge through the whole thing. Rookies.

Re: IOWA 2012
We just decided as a class to have a potluck. Our class is pretty social. You can find a social event or group to go out and do something just about every night of the week. For instance if the pot luck wasn't enough you could follow it up with a trip to the movie theater to see footloose with students.Opie wrote:Ohh, what's the pot luck for?typ3 wrote:Tonight's pot luck was awesome. I suggest the class of 2015 do what our class does, do all your socializing in your own Facebook group off of the official Iowa one. Get on top of getting people together early in the semester. Pre-during-and post orientation.

Nice. This should be fun. I have only ever had one drink with one person that I had a class with in UG.

Re: IOWA 2012
Yea our class has done apple orchard trips, went out to see lion king 3d, theme parties, etc. This Friday a bunch are going to the Haunted House in Cedar Rapids. I'm not so sure about the 2 and 3L classes, but our class seems to be a lot more organized and outgoing (at least for now until the workload picks up next year).Opie wrote:Nice. This should be fun. Summary: Live it up while you can. Settle down and grind when you need to in November / 2L year.

Historically Friday night is when they come out for October tests. Not always true, but most of the time.

Haha, I heard some 2L's talking down in the cubbies in the lib the day before the auction saying they didn't actually want to win, but just wanted the 1L's to pay more haha, either way, good job

Re: IOWA 2012
Sounds like you guys are having a good time! The 2L class was sorta like that last year but eventually we all settled into a routine and into different social groups. Granted, there is lots of overlap, but i think that for the first 2-3 months everyone is still feeling each other out before people settle down...typ3 wrote:Opie wrote: Yea our class has done apple orchard trips, went out to see lion king 3d, theme parties, etc. This Friday a bunch are going to the Haunted House in Cedar Rapids. Also, there are some great 1L's. I've enjoyed becoming friends w/ some of you!

It's not like at 1900 it isn't an incredible steal considering the event gets 50 students in the door with 5 professors and a band.THB wrote:typ3 wrote:On that same note. Congratulations to us for out bidding the 2 and 3L classes and locking down the Dean and 5 professors for $1,900.

Re: IOWA 2012
It wasn't just me. It was a few people who put money in-- that's why we ended up going over what we had collected by a few hundred. A few of the 2L's were definitely disgruntled that they lost.. unless they're also playing off complaining publicly as a planned event.chrisbru wrote:Yup. This is true. I figured you both were but I just decided to post. Namely to boost my post count but also because my mind was swimming after reading cases for this memo all evening. Is it Thursday yet?
Edit: We're ahead of last year's pace.. lets keep it going and break 100 pages this year.

I'm so glad my memo is turned in... I can (kind of) relax for this week.
Helpful information:
You can get your student loans increased once during law school to purchase a computer. If you're planning on buying a computer for school, wait until the last possible second so you can get the additional aid for it. You can do this at any point during school.

Re: IOWA 2012
IMO take the loan out just before you graduate so you have the latest and greatest to tinker around with when you enter the work force and you become cash strapped with other things (cars, insurance, house payments, etc.)
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
