Nothing outstanding, probably average for both. I have 3 years WE in the finance field, and worked throughout college in a student leadership position. The PS was mainly about that leadership position and how it led me to pursue a legal career.MiamiOxford wrote:Hmm.. how are your softs/ PS?Cornelius wrote:Going to throw in a prayer ED with my 170/3.3 and hope for the best. I've still got to get going on my 5 year plan/Why Penn. Usually 1-2 pages, right?

They say max 1 page on their website. Not sure how strict they are with enforcing that, though.Cornelius wrote:Nothing outstanding, probably average for both. I'm going to a panel tomorrow with some UPenn AdComm, I'll ask how strict they are about the 1 page limit if I get an opportunity to and report back. Feel free to pose any other questions.curiousgeorgia wrote:They say max 1 page on their website. One page is probably for the best anyway. I can't imagine they'd want to read two pages of information they already know about their school.

Would anyone care to read my (extremely) rough Five Year Plan and provide some feedback? Let me know and I'll PM.

With a 3.97/172 (167 before retake), is there any purpose for a Why Penn or other optionals? Do they position you better for schollies?

Not sure, but it wouldn't take that long to write a decent 1-page essay. Plus, I spoke to someone in admissions who recommended that you take advantage of any opportunity to tell them about you. Seems worth it just in case.lsatcrazy wrote:With a 3.97/172 (167 before retake), is there any purpose for a Why Penn or other optionals? Do they position you better for schollies?

So I just figured out that I'm going to be the annoying kid at the panel asking a ton of questions.yoiav wrote:can you ask if its possible to add an optional essay once you've submitted already?

Really want to ED to Penn or Virginia, but feel like Virginia might be more likely to accept me. 164, 3.33, Mexican-American. Decent ED chance? It is my top choice.

So, your logic in syllogistic form is:jim-green wrote:Better than mine. Apply.stherlee wrote:LSAT: one cancel, second take 173

If your stats are better than mine, then you should apply.
Your stats are better than mine.
QED, you should apply.
Lol.
In response to stherlee: I'm not sure, check LSN to see if people with similar stats got in ED. It's really not hard to figure these things out yourself.

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I've checked LSN and LSP. I see some LSN applicants who got in with a lower lsat score than mine, but have a higher GPA. LSP says 35%, but percentage doesn't change even though I indicate ED for penn. Is 35% worth using up my ED option?Hawkeye Pierce wrote:So, your logic in syllogistic form is:jim-green wrote:Better than mine. Apply.stherlee wrote:LSAT: one cancel, second take 173

Almost done my app for ED, just need to put the final touches on my PS and the 5 year plan essay. Hopefully I can get it out (and most of my other apps) this weekend. I'm not even done my app and I'm excited to find out if I get in. Sigh.

It's worth it if you really want to go to Penn. You won't get into any higher ranked schools.stherlee wrote:

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm inclined to only include my diversity statement and not write any other optional essays.
My numbers are above 75th percentile for both GPA and LSAT. Should I worry about Penn YPing and include a Why Penn / 5 Year Plan essay to show more interest?
Edit: I meant to include.. I'm mainly asking because I see more yellow than usual on the right side of the graph on LSN.
