Re: Harvard Waitlist 2011
I had my JR1 earlier today. I think it went well, although I probably gushed way too much
Anyway he said the purpose was to see if I was still interested and the only questions he asked me were Why Harvard? What other schools I was considering? And, If I was accepted is there any reason I wouldn't be able to attend? Then he said my response would be forwarded to the acceptance committee for further review, and If accepted I would be contacted early next week.
Of course the pessimistic part of me instantly honed in on the "if accepted" part and wondered when I would hear if I wasn't accepted
. Anyway, fingers crossed and good luck to everyone else who is waiting to hear.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2011
I think I'm in the same boat. The lingering hope of Harvard is putting a damper on my excitement about Columbia and the recent movement has me back on the edge of my seat. If I don't hear anything by the end of this month, I'm probably just going to withdraw so I can truly commit myself to CLS.eaa1537 wrote:I'm going to give up hope when Admits go out next week. Congrats to the new JR1s and the soon-to-be JR2s! I'm excited for you (and jealous, too)!

Just had my JR1 today. It went reasonably well, although I wish I was more articulate in retrospect. Good luck to all the other candidates!
Also - Is it standard to send him a thank you email for his call? It seems a bit silly to thank him for his time when the interview took < 5 mins.

I would, because it's not about the amount of time, it's about someone seriously considering you for an opportunity. That said, the chances of it mattering either way are probably minuscule.mbn22 wrote:Just had my JR1 today. It went reasonably well, although I wish I was more articulate in retrospect. I agree with both your points; thank you notes are about more than the time spent, and they probably don't affect your chances at this stage in the game. I was just curious about whether other JR1 recipients sent them in.d34dluk3 wrote:I would, because it's not about the amount of time, it's about someone seriously considering you for an opportunity. FWIW, I think I'll be sending one to express my appreciation and kid-at-Disneyland level of excitement. It certainly can't hurt.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to give future JR1bs a sigh of relief. This conversation is even more informal than the first. He will just want to reaffirm what you discussed during JR1, ask about where else you are looking at....and that's pretty much it. Takes 2-3 minutes tops.
