Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
At this point Im HOPING to get a grade request. Anything is better than nothing D:droll wrote:Got a fall grades request. Kind of annoying, because I think my GPA might actually drop a little this semester (it's close to a 4 now). Hopefully this doesn't impact everything too badly. I don't have any up/down trend in past grades. This is bothersome.
What time do you other fall grades people think you'll hear back?

Ah, thank you! My school is notoriously slow with transcripts. I will put in a request now.Kili wrote:It's should be very rapidly after grades reach them. <1 weekdroll wrote:Got a fall grades request. Above post makes me a little sad!!! But I wish you the best of luck!! Please let us know how everything turns out.
For what it's worth, I don't think being a borderline candidate means that you are less likely to succeed at a given school than a stronger applicant.

I'm sure you'll do great no matter where you go, t6! I wish you the absolute best and hope you receive many big envelopes with many big offers! 200k is A LOT of money so I can't blame you at all for wanting to get away from that. Best of luck, you will be missed!

Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
Thanks very much for your support guys, and I do understand that strength of application is not necessarily correlated to success at the school. That being said, I do come from an incredibly modest background (my family has pretty much hit automatic 0 EFC every year on the FAFSA), and while I am quite confident in my abilities to work hard, these developments have made the debt seem, instead of like something formidable to pay off over the next 30-40 years, like it would be a load on Atlas's shoulders (where if he shrugged, everything would collapse) and that I would feel that much more pressure to "not shrug."shanemahsa wrote:+1 it won't be harder than any other t10annie2010 wrote:Above post makes me a little sad!!! Again, by no means am I intending to discourage any of you guys to ED, I hope it works out for everyone. I just think that it's time for me to be mature and sacrifice my best shot at a little bit of Ivy prestige, and hope that things work out for the best. Who knows, maybe CLS will accept me and even offer me some money to offset that 74k!

Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
Speaking of fall grade requests, does anyone know if Columbia will accept electronic transcripts, or do I have to have them sent snail mail?

Sry jcd idk, but your question gave me an idea. We should make a cls FAQ in the op of either this thread or the cls 2011 thread. It would help a lot of people out.

This is an excellent idea, that thread is getting a bit unwieldy.shanemahsa wrote:Sry jcd idk, but your question gave me an idea. We should make a cls FAQ in the op of either this thread or the cls 2011 thread. It would help a lot of people out.

Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
Oh yea, I forgot about my theory haha. I hope I'm right too! The Columbia Law School fall term ends a week from today so I guarantee decisions for all of us (except you crazy grade request people) within one week! Also their winter break is pretty long for those of us who DO get accepted - December 23rd to January 18th. Not too bad!HowdyYall wrote:dude Im hoping your originally theory was right and today's tha dayJoeShmoe11 wrote:I've actually been trying to do something likethat forED herehaha. Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
I just called to ask them a question about the application and there was a message that said the office was closed for a mtg between 1-3, so maybe we can expect something around 3:15 at the earliest today via email?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
