Yeah, it means you didn't get a scholarship...considering how late you've applied they have probably run out of money....as for grants that info comes out either next week or week after that. Also, you might get some scholarship money with your financial aid from private scholarship funds that every accepted student is considered for.orachelo wrote:I went complete on 2/4/11 and I got my acceptance package via snail mail on 2/19/11.
I didn't get any scholarship or financial aid info in the package. Did this happen to anyone else? I wonder when the fin aid info is coming...

I got my snail mail acceptance on Monday, applied just a few weeks ago, and was awarded a 27K/year scholly. Numbers are 159 LSAT and 3.5 LSDAS gpa.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
did only people who have been officially accepted get that "important information" email from admissions? It was about deposit deadlines and secret housing passwords, all of which is for admitted students. I went complete on 2/17..so I'm thinking that this is a signal of good things to come?

Just got back from my weekend visit to Syracuse. There are some good things about Syracuse Law, but I also gathered many bad things that will eventually lead me to attend another school.
I'll post more info tomorrow and some pictures of the nice campus.

Hurry up man! I need more ammo to persuade my parents why they should back off and get behind me in taking a year off and not going to Syracuse.

I am also considering SU- but its between SU and buffalo. I really want to stay in western Ny, so its going to be one of these schools. What did you like about SU- and what turned you off? Is it the harsh curve? The professors, or the overall feel of the campus??

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
Ok sorry everyone, I've been setting up a visit to the University of Miami and out with some friends during spring break. I'll go ahead and do an overview of the pros and cons, if you want me to discuss further I can:
Pros:
+People in Syracuse and at the University are extremely nice.
+Campus is beautiful
+Syracuse basketball is the shit
+Midterms (I like this because I can see the professors exam style before finals; you may not so this could be a con for some people)
+A decent amount of living options for off campus for a decent price and COL
+They're building an expensive new law school (won't happen till after we graduate though)
Cons:
-Employment prospects are dismal, DISMAL. A random 2L talked to me and said NYC doesn't even bother with Syracuse and most interviews were local unless you were top 5%. This is a big issue he made it seem.
-The law building is old and unattractive and the facilities are average. There's a reason they're making a new one. The library was too small, nice but wayyyy too small.
-My official visit was very unprofessional and the staff tried their best, but it should have been run better. We were supposed to sit on a class, but I guess nobody realized it was midterms so we didn't get to do that.
-Financial aid poses no help and refused to up my 20k scholly and provided no good solution for debt repayment.
-Syracuse forces you to be in a study group during 1L
-It's COLD, REALLY COLD. If you're from FL your whole life like I am this is a huge negative.
-Price - this place is expensive to attend. The financial aid lady automatically went into discussing the 25 year option for paying off loans, essentially saying it's impossible for most students to pay the debt within 10 years.
-Did I mention it's cold? On top of that, the weather is so ugly most of the time it's so easy to get depressed from never seeing the sun. I felt depressed after 3 days of crappy weather.
- Not enough study space around the law school.
In short, this place is too expensive (even with my 20k/year) and the returns for the investment are not enough to actually attend this school. Pick somewhere else.

I had already decided that I'm taking the year off when the new rankings came out. I'm no longer second guessing my decision.

Re: Syracuse 2011 applicants
Is anyone reconsidering attending now that Syracuse got dinged to 100? I mean the school has been going up and down the past few years so what's to say by the time we graduate its like in the 70s or something?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
