reading last year's thread, it's a letter--- a rejection-sized one. Waitlists via status checker, but that comes later. No email or phone -- there were a few exceptions, but only for extreme circumstances.Crazycall2 wrote:we have to wait until Christmas?? (or almost Christmas) bah ......humbug
anybody know if there's a phone call involved or just the letter and status checker?

according to LSN, last year's people (except for two lone applicants who heard 11/24 and 12/4?) started to hear about acceptances like two weeks from today. if that's what you meant by almost Christmas, two weeks from now sounds sooner (and psychologically kinder) than almost-Christmas!

I've been sitting at "Complete" since 10/11...any idea why I have not moved to "Under Review"?

Me too. But I think USC reviews batches based on strength of numbers. I'm definitely not an auto admit. Those with stronger numbers went into review faster. That is at least, what I'm gleaning from the time I've been following this thread.username99 wrote:Samewhereto4law wrote:I've been sitting at "Complete" since 10/11...any idea why I have not moved to "Under Review"?

yeah I agree. a good amount of schools (mostly in the top 20) seem to review applications in that way.queenlizzie13 wrote:Me too. But I think USC reviews batches based on strength of numbers. Submitted around 10/20, complete 11/1, and not yet under review with borderline auto-admit numbers (median GPA, >75% LSAT).queenlizzie13 wrote:Me too. Haha. The funny thing is that people get all excited when you go UR, and you wind up being there for about a month... nothing exciting about it. I've been UR since 11/22.

I'm 3.64, 167, so no barn-burner, numbers wise.

I don't get it. I submitted my app on 11/22 and went UR on 11/24. And I doubt they will be reviewing my app earlier than those who submitted before me because my LSAT score is below the mean. Maybe USC is more random than we might think?

USC is the only school to have required official communication from my UG regarding my disciplinary record addendum. I've been incomplete for more than 3 weeks waiting for them to get the letter from my school saying the records are expunged! Just requested a replacement letter the other day assuming the first got lost.

I'm in a similar situation, submitted 11/20 and went UR almost immediately 11/22. My numbers are strong 170 3.59 but i'm worried that my resume and personal statement might leave me on the WL which sucks since its one of my top choices. Rushing applications out FTL.

I had to do this as well. But I had mine sent in early September. I confirmed they received it then submitted my app a month later and had no problems. Similarly, my records have been expunged so my dean just wrote that.bdubs wrote:USC is the only school to have required official communication from my UG regarding my disciplinary record addendum. Also - did you not apply to NYU/Columbia/Cornell/Duke? They are the other schools on my list that I had to have the school send letters to (in Cornell's case, their Dean's Cert form).

Applied to Columbia, NYU and Duke. Still not complete yet at NYU or Columbia but I didn't receive a request from either (I attached an electronic copy of an official letter detailing the expungement to Columbia). I am complete and UR at Duke without any letter from my school.trudat15 wrote:I had to do this as well. But I had mine sent in early September. USC specifically stated they would not accept anything electronically. This is so annoying for one minor alcohol policy violation when I was of legal drinking age. Very frustrating.

Re: USC 2011
I think on the App it says something to the effect of: "if you answered yes to question xx, please have your UG Dean or office in charge of student records send us a detailed explanation of the incident." They wont send a request (the way USC emails you and tells you that you need to have this submitted), but it might explain why you arent complete at NYU/Columbia yet. Though maybe not, since you are already UR at Duke.bdubs wrote:Applied to Columbia, NYU and Duke. Thanks for the heads up. Just requested a letter go to NYU. Hoping that Columbia will be OK with the electronic attachment or at least notify me that they need an official copy.trudat15 wrote:I think on the App it says something to the effect of: "if you answered yes to question xx, please have your UG Dean or office in charge of student records send us a detailed explanation of the incident." Anyway, looking forward to going complete at USC. How long have decisions been taking?

I applied Dec 1st, went complete this afternoon and then went IR about an hour ago. I thought USC was slow, so this was surprising
