you could also get delivery confirmation through usps, although this doesn't guarantee that an admissions office worker actually opened and processed what was inside. this was just easier for me. i don't trust my mailman.crackberry wrote:I'm with you on this. I'm having my recommender send me the letter with his signature across the seal of the envelope, then I'm going to enclose the LOR with my LOCI and send it off to Cambridge directly.sundevil77 wrote:Ok, guys and gals, I know we've gone over this information already, but....I called HLS to ask about sending additional LORs. The woman in the office said they prefer to have the letters go through LSAC. However, she said if you have reached the LOR limit it is alright to send them directly to the admissions office. In light of the conflicting information ITT, I think I'm going to have my recommender send my LOR directly to their office, even though I haven't reached the limit. It didn't seem like they are going to punish you for sending it directly to the office, and I can't wait for the whole LSAC thing to happen!
Is anyone doing that self-addressed, stamped postcard thing mentioned in the hold email? Because they won't confirm receipt over the phone for whatever reason.

I'm finally joining this club. Happy to be here and no longer in limbo...I had been waiting since my JR1 in mid December. Knowing the credentials and acceptances of some of the people in this group makes me feel like I'm in good company.

The "JR1 but no JR2" limbo was way worse, trust me/us.amputatedbrain wrote:Isn't what we're in the definition of limbo?aussie3b wrote:I'm finally joining this club. I wish my recommender would e-mail me back. I have a work lor ready to go, but I feel like the academic will be stronger...and probably more along the lines of what harvard wants, no?

Is there going to be separate acceptance batches for URMs & held applicants?

At least one 180 and one 179 have also been held. Both with 3.65+ too.4910 wrote:village-idiot wrote:Officially in the club. Got the email today, i'm a 3.95/173 with no JR1. Anybody have any idea of our chances?

If it makes you feel any better, a 177, 3.6 HYP UG was straight up rejected.

Were your original recommendations from profs or work people? If they were from profs, the work rec might be better for an update. If they were from work (or a mix), then the academic one is definitely better.def2104 wrote:I wish my recommender would e-mail me back. people were speculating, because the app deadline for HLS is Feb 1. soon they'll have the entire applicant pool and should be ready to hand out some decisionsparker09 wrote:Wait-- how do we know this?Core wrote: Yup. At least now we know we won't be hearing until at least mid-Feb.

Harvard's application deadline is soft; they won't have the entire applicant pool by then.georgina wrote:people were speculating, because the app deadline for HLS is Feb 1. soon they'll have the entire applicant pool and should be ready to hand out some decisionsparker09 wrote:Wait-- how do we know this?Core wrote: Yup. Is that a joke? Academic probation or something? Makes me feel less confident above every hearing JR's voice on my phone.crackberry wrote:FYI HH, carterth is the one who got held today. Just sent my transcripts in. Now, I'll need to send in that LOCI that will basically say nothing, and I'll get on my recommender.

He says he doesn't know the issue. His 180 is a retake (from 170) but I can't imagine that's it.VoidSix wrote:Is that a joke? Academic probation or something?
