Anyone tried negotiating scholarship money with Cornell yet?

Just read your comment a few pages back, and even if it wasn't with a Darrow, you said you tried negotiating with a scholarship more than triple what Cornell offered, from a higher-ranked school, and still no dice?!

I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised by this. You're an adcom. You initially decide that you're willing to pay 30K to retain a particular admit. The admit comes back at you saying they got 120K at a school where you think they'd be more likely to attend even at even cost. Do you get into a bidding war with this other school and offer another $100,000 in an attempt to win over this admit? The admit could be awesome, but may be a splitter or something, so why break the bank over them? It would be reasonable to give up and cut them loose at that point. For example, GULC offered a bunch of people no money after hearing about their very large offers, and it made sense if they admitted these people hoping they wouldn't have to pay so much.

This was basically the conclusion I came to as well, and I wasn't shocked or upset by Cornell's decision not to up my offer. I think negotiation works better when the amounts in question are actually comparable

Totally agree with this.

Cornell may have figured this person is simply using the 120 to up our 30 and wants to take the increased offer elsewhere to negotiate, not to attend Cornell. That's why one has to show real commitment to attend while negotiating. School's can easily tell if they are being used.

Hi, I've been in review for about a month. I see some people have done online interviews and such. I was wondering if this is on a rolling basis? Do they contact a group of applicants at a time? I've already sent them my continued interest email, should I contact them again?

Not sure if the first loci itself was necessary coz the school says don't contact us except for the specified matters. Would advise against a second. And I think this week is going to see a lot of movement, not just at Cornell but everywhere. Second week of March, after all. So good chance of you hearing from them this week. All the best.

Cornell just broke my heart with the email telling me I won't be receiving a scholarship. I guess they really are focusing on GPA over LSAT this year

2-30 days for post interview decision. Few hours to few days for scholarship decision after submitting the form that comes with the admit package (attached to the acceptance email).

Just some follow up info: Had applied in first week of Jan. Was invited for video interview last Thursday and completed it the same day. 167/superior. Any insights on my chances and what can be done to maximise them would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks a lot! Replied with an loci. Told them am visiting ny end of the month and would want to visit school. Also told they are the top choice. Let's see how it goes.

Finally got a date change for the first time since my app was completed a little over 5 weeks ago. I noticed that somebody mentioned in the what to expect thread to not expect any communication until you receive 3-4 date changes. Do you all still believe that to be the case?

i waited for 6 weeks for an interview request after an UR2.

Thanks for the info, that would be pushing me pretty far into April so hopefully I hear back a little sooner than that.

My timeline was 3 weeks from complete to interview request and I don't believe there were any status checker date changes in between. So you may hear back sooner.
