Interview today! This is actually my first interview for law school so I'm kinda nervous but everything I've seen regarding the UVA interviews points to this being pretty relaxed

Have we been given instructions on how to access it?20172017 wrote:Also wonderingTexasENG wrote:Out of curiosity have you checked the UVA SIS site, and does your award appear there?jdanz wrote:Above 75th lsat and between 25th and 50th gpa!amberb94 wrote:That's great! Did anyone else's reccomenders get an email thanking them? Is that a sign of anything?

My (admittedly overly suspicious) guess is that its a subtle way to make sure the recommendations are legit. Especially with dossier services like Interfolio, it isn't terribly difficult to fake a letter, and I've heard of it being done before.jjcorvino wrote:Did anyone else's reccomenders get an email thanking them? I haven't heard of it being done for law school applications, but I have heard of people faking letters of recommendation for medical school and grad school.bunney_j wrote:Wow I've never heard of this! I got an email asking to "discuss my application" and then we set up an interview time. They ask to do it on skype but my mic on my computer doesn't work so we did it over the phonebunney_j wrote:Did you schedule an interview? Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I don't know how that would stop people though. I would assume the forging student would have access to the email that is on the note (since they wrote it and uploaded it). How would that change anything?bunney_j wrote:Wow I've never heard of this! Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Typically, a letter on letterhead would have to include the recommender's institutional email address, which is arguably a lot harder to fake. If you put a gmail account down or something, that tends to be a red flag to anyone reading the letter. I would imagine some students would still put down the institutional address in the hopes that no one contacts the recommender.jjcorvino wrote:I don't know how that would stop people though.
