Re: Northwestern c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Held in February...wrote an LOCI and did the online interview. Would probably give my right arm to stay in Chicago with all my family/friends/bf. Fingers crossed!
Anyone hear back from being placed on "Hold"? My understanding was that a hold is not a waitlist - waitlist means that you have been accepted but there is no room for you yet, hold is that they literally haven't made a decision. Is that right?

Applied in February, got wait listed on 4/28. Confirmed acceptance on WL and got invitation to video interview on 5/2. Deadline to interview is 5/15. I'm assuming they won't start making decisions until then? Does NU offer merit aid to WL acceptances?

They have in the past. Probably depends on how much money they have left, how much they want you for medians/diversity, and what your other offers are.politicaljungle wrote:Applied in February, got wait listed on 4/28. Thanks! Is it a good sign that I got an interview request or does everyone on the WL get it?Mullens wrote:They have in the past. I know it's common. Not sure they offer it to everyone but I wouldn't be surprised. I recommend doing it if you still want to attend; any chance for the admissions office to learn more about you and consider you application is better for your odds of getting in.politicaljungle wrote:Thanks! Has anyone already done it and care to share their experience?

Nope, haven't gotten one yet. That being said, didn't send LOCI/anything beyond initial response, so not surprised.

Did you accept your waitlist position? I believe they only send it out if you complete the Waitlist Response Form linked on the letter.16to19 wrote:Nope, haven't gotten one yet. That being said, didn't send LOCI/anything beyond initial response, so not surprised.

Deadline to submit the form is also May 15th so if you're still considering NU, I'd recommend submitting that form today16to19 wrote:Ah, a twist!

Checking in. NW is a more professionally minded school so I am preparing like I would for a job interview. I would expect the waitlist interview to be like the initial interview. I have two more days of prep and I'm using it.

Was it just me or did anyone else feel super uncomfortable about their Wait List Interview?

Yeah, I was definitely caught by surprise by the 3 minute answer time, as I was expecting a very similar experience to the first interview (1 minute answers). I also got a repeat question from the first onecalgoldenbear wrote:Was it just me or did anyone else feel super uncomfortable about their Wait List Interview?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Yes, me too. The additional time ended up making me feel nervous and like I was rambling. In addition to it already feeling like I'm awkwardly talking to myself. I would have much rather done a grueling in-person interview than this awkward format.ehhh wrote:Yeah, I was definitely caught by surprise by the 3 minute answer time, as I was expecting a very similar experience to the first interview (1 minute answers). Does NU need to go through all the hold applicants before it starts letting people in off the wait list?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I would assume so, because none of us hold applicants have even received an initial decision of 'admit' 'wait list' or 'deny'calgoldenbear wrote:Does NU need to go through all the hold applicants before it starts letting people in off the wait list?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
