Re: NYU c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Same here - but I am a little confused; the page for 2015 means what I made in the 2015 year (and will file this April) and 2016 is what I will file in 2017, correct?lymenheimer wrote:Haven't completed it, but I got to that part and I did estimate...I'm salaried and I know when I'm leaving though, so mine was predictable.James.K.Polk wrote:
Not NYU-specific; you can certainly do FAFSA now (estimated 2015 taxes are okay temporarily) and I already submitted mine. Need Access is open (maybe not for NYU again, I didn't look) and you can populate the form with estimated stuff as well. For both forms, you'll need to come through and enter the hard numbers when the time comes.
My only question for Need Access (which I hate, by the way) - they have 2 pages: one for 2015 taxes, one for 2016. Does this mean they want me to estimate what I will earn in 2016? It'll be pretty minimal, considering my fellowship ends in the Spring, and then law school starts. Has anyone looked it over?
Thanks!

Just to clarify, Need Access is open, but you can't populate the form without choosing a school. So for people who are ED and/or have already chosen to go to NYU, filling out the form is not possible at the moment.James.K.Polk wrote:Not NYU-specific; you can certainly do FAFSA now (estimated 2015 taxes are okay temporarily) and I already submitted mine. Unfortunately, I can't find NYU Law on the 2016-2017 application when selecting schools. I was able to find Duke and some other law schools on there, and I did find NYU Law on the 2015-2016 application. Anyone else having this issue? NYU says on their site that the app on NeedAccess would be made available on January 1, so it should be available. Lastly, if I'm not applying for need based aid does anyone know if I need to complete the FAFSA as well, or just NeedAccess? It said everyone needs to do the latter but I believe FAFSA is optional. Thanks for the help!
Pretty sure you just need to do FAFSA if you want federal loans. NYU only uses NA. Obviously somebody should correct me if I'm wrong here.
I've got no problem waiting, just glad to know when to expect to have to do it and that I'm not gonna be late or anything

Most admits couldn't access the ASW for about an hour (myself included), but who knows whether that is always the case.jennydotj wrote:No :'(pittsburghpirates wrote:Were you able to log into the ASW?jennydotj wrote:DLS

I think so . The way I understood the process is that law schools will open up (UR1) document within the first couple days that it's completed. So I was told to not take UR1 seriously. It's UR2,3 and DLS that counts
Please correct me if in wrong tho!

UR dates for NYU don't really matter and don't necessarily correspond to anything.december1205 wrote:!!!Dexter97 wrote:Same!!!! So does UR 1 for NYU mean its in the queue?december1205 wrote:Complete 1/4 UR 1/6

I thought you could send it in to multiple schools? I can't choose a school without knowing the results of my financial aid package, for which I'd need to fill out Need Access. I can't see how it requires a commitment to fill out...cbbinnyc wrote:Just to clarify, Need Access is open, but you can't populate the form without choosing a school. Yea. I have like 7 schools already selected in my NeedAccess.rska884 wrote:

Re: NYU c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
You are correct, but I'm saying that, if you are ED and therefore must commit to NYU (or have already committed for other reasons) then you would only be filling out Need Access for NYU ... which is currently not possible because NYU is not yet listed as an option. If you are filling it out for other schools then, yes, it is open and can be populated at this time.rska884 wrote: I thought you could send it in to multiple schools? ETA: I see now why my original post was confusing - when I said you need to "choose" a school, I meant you need to select a school in the Need Access form, not that you need to decide where you want to go.

Anybody know if DLS's are released all at once? Or is it more of a throughout the day type thing?

Apologies if this has been asked already, but outside of NYU's scholarships that you choose to apply for or not, does NYU ever offer money to students? Or is it those scholarships or nothing?
