My status checker changed to "Admitted" about a day after the call. It was not instantaneous.ElizabethKB wrote:For those of you who received JS2s (congrats!!), has your status tracker changed at all (either before or after the call)?

What's the latest interview date so far that has received a JS2? From what I've seen like mid-November? I interviewed December 2nd and was really hoping to hear before Christmas, but I guess it's looking like a 2015 response for me.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I think there was one who reported here that s/he interviewed mid-Nov. Doubtful that any late Nov or Dec JS1s will get pre-Christmas responses, judging by the fact that the most of the people who had a JS1 when I did (mid-Nov) haven't gotten JS2s yet. I'm really hoping for one before Christmas, but who knows?!RedColossus wrote:What's the latest interview date so far that has received a JS2? From what I've seen like mid-November? I was expecting/hoping for another wave today, but that's looking increasingly unlikely, now that we're this late in the day. Hopefully it's Monday.

Same. Seems like this year is just going to be different in every way from previous ones. Can't imagine there is much time for more than one wave before Xmas now? All very disconcerting.zzzzz20 wrote:ugh was convinced we'd see some movement today...guess not

Is anybody else hoping that they've been saving most of their acceptances for the week of christmas?
Quick questions:
There aren't any JS1s scheduled for next week, right?
They've also never done JS2s on a weekend, right?

I think several years ago, late in the cycle (like, April), they did JS2's — which might have been JR2's at the time — on a weekend.HorseThief wrote:There aren't any interviews scheduled for next week, but Idk about JS1's. And I haven't heard of JS2's on a weekend before.

Just out of curiosity (and a needed distraction from waiting/hoping for my phone to ring) why do schools call? Yes it's a nice gesture but I've got to imagine it's a huge time sucker and that yield at schools like HLS would be unaffected if acceptances came via email.

Some schools may want to gauge your level of interest before extending an offer. May be a phone call can also help schools in cases where acceptance emails go to the wrong people due to technical glitches?ElizabethKB wrote:Just out of curiosity (and a needed distraction from waiting/hoping for my phone to ring) why do schools call? Or simply to have great acceptance call stories to tell

It can't think of any practical reason, since schools often tweet "we don't have time to call, so we'll email instead." I think it's mostly psychological and meant to engender goodwill, especially since Harvard has a reputation among some people for being a diploma mill & I imagine some applicants worry about getting lost in the shuffle. That said, I think I'm with you on this one - Harvard is Harvard. As fun as it is to get a phone call, I think I would prefer a quick email at this point.ElizabethKB wrote:Just out of curiosity (and a needed distraction from waiting/hoping for my phone to ring) why do schools call? Thanks for the responses, guys! It probably does have a psychological element to it (although some of the adcoms in calls I've received sounded so exhausted that I'm not sure the call did them any good...but I guess that's another issue).
Truth is I'd be thrilled to hear good news from HLS through any channel.

Does anyone know how important JS1s are? I know that after JS1s are the faculty reviews - for those who receive JS1s but do not receive JS2s, would it be mostly due to poor performance during JS1 or not making thru the faculty review (ex. faculty does not agree with the admission committee's decision about the applicant's candidacy)

How does the HLS ASW compare to other ASW's in terms of professor-prospective student interaction etc?

I can chime in, but it might be more appropriate to throw that in the HLS Class of 2018 thread.Seoulless wrote:Any 1Ls in here etc who can shed some light on ASW? It's listed as Saturday March 7- Monday March 9. Should I fly in on the 6th and out on the 10th or what?
