I think we will have a decision soon and it is likely to be unfavorable. Hold on tight, friends!

Just got the faculty review e-mail too. Sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but what are the odds of acceptance from faculty review?
I really like Berkeley.

I agree. This cycle has not been kind to me, so I'd expect a rejection.barbizon wrote:KevinP wrote:+1msblaw89 wrote:Okay so....what if you have been waiting since the beginning of time with no decision yet..and no FR email

Yea...didn't get the FR email or anything else -_-. La vie I guess.
Although, I find it weird that if Berkeley was going to reject some of us, why it took them so long if we AREN'T going to FR. I'm assuming the decision was made a while ago, yet we haven't heard in the recent rounds and no FR now? Perhaps there are waves or something. IDK, at this point this LS app period has gotten dragged out far longer than I anticipated, I'm ready to just enjoy the rest of my Senior year either way.

I don't know--there have been plenty of rounds of dings already. Why not then? Possible we're just in a holding pattern?KevinP wrote:I agree. Berkeley Dean of Admissions Edward Tom wrote:We identify about 1400 to 1600 applications that are very competitive, and these we send to our faculty admissions committee, comprised of six faculty and twelve students. Students serve in an advising capacity on the committee. I admit roughly 550 people through what I call the administrative review process, and the admissions committee (the faculty committee) admits about another 200 or so. So, we end up admitting about 700 to 750 people.

the odds are something like 200 of 1300. in for faculty review too btw. I'm not sure if I'm excited because i still have that one in a million shot or disappointed they're just dragging out my inevitable rejectionkennethellenparcell wrote:Just got the faculty review e-mail too. Hey guys, I see you freaking out about not receiving FR e-mail. I wanted to let you know that I JUST received mine. So it's possible they're coming out in waves or incrementally or whatever you want to call it.

Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think I may have a red flag on my application somewhere. I also have a rather interesting (in my biased opinion) life story, but that doesn't seem to be helping much, if at all.msblaw89 wrote: Don't you have ridiculous numbers
Well, I'd expect a rejection for me personally. I think others who have not gone under review may still get acceptances.cerealdan wrote: I don't know--there have been plenty of rounds of dings already. Why not then? Possible we're just in a holding pattern?

Don't know if this will be helpful or if it'll just cause more panic, but my status checker says, across the top:
Your application at UC Berkeley Law School has passed an initial administrative review and has been selected for further consideration by the Faculty Admissions Committee.
It still says "Under review" as of 10/19 though.
