Got my mail three hours ago... nothing. Nothing in the email. Tomorrow will be an interesting day.
Do they accept by mail, or by email?

I've only heard of acceptances through email thus far...but if I'm wrong, someone correct me.tommytahoe wrote:Got my mail three hours ago... nothing. Nothing in the email. Tomorrow will be an interesting day.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
I just got an email from Alabama saying they reviewed my file (oops, forgot I applied there!) and would get back to me by the end of May... sad that it takes ALABAMA to make UNC look good.
I now officially feel like I'm the last person waiting on a response! Really hoping my $70 and hours working on the extra essays weren't for nothing!

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
Ugh, that makes me feel a little better. I had to put in a deposit at another school a while ago. When I called the admissions office about this problem, they were really rude to me. They told me to just put it down and then if I get in I can just put in another one. As if I have deposit money to just throw around willy-nilly. Here's to hoping for good news tomorrow...viro8 wrote:Still waiting. Went complete 11/20/09. Can anyone beat that?

Carolina's waitlist is used to fill demographics. Your race, age and residency become almost as important as your numbers.
Or so says the UNC adcomm.

Haha that can't be true, otherwise why would they put a 24 year old, white (jewish) male (me) on the waitlist (we're like the most over populated law school demographic I believe)?lml09 wrote:icydash wrote:Can someone explain to me the purpose of -not- ranking the waitlist? Re: University of North Carolina 2013
Still waiting here too. Applied mid October. Went complete mid December cause they overlooked my mailed in stuff...said they never received it even though it was mailed with my check which they cashed in late October.
I'm on-state, 164/3.7. Guess tomorrow is the (supposed) big day. But since I am planning to attend Wake Forest so it doesn't really matter, but it is the principle of things. It is ridiculous having to wait this long.

I think lml meant that's the criteria they use for pulling people OFF the waitlist...as for putting you on it, since you're obviously not going to fill any demographics...maybe they want as many people as possible on the waitlist just in case?icydash wrote:Haha that can't be true, otherwise why would they put a 24 year old, white (jewish) male (me) on the waitlist (we're like the most over populated law school demographic I believe)?lml09 wrote:icydash wrote:Can someone explain to me the purpose of -not- ranking the waitlist? Re: University of North Carolina 2013
Right but why would they put people on "a demographic based waitlist" that they know they aren't going to pull off for demographic reasons? I think they say that it's unranked/"based on demographic filling" so people will stay on the waitlist (and they have the backup if they -really- need it), but most likely it is actually ranked (and by GPA/LSAT).mytwocents wrote:I think lml meant that's the criteria they use for pulling people OFF the waitlist...as for putting you on it, since you're obviously not going to fill any demographics...maybe they want as many people as possible on the waitlist just in case?icydash wrote:Haha that can't be true, otherwise why would they put a 24 year old, white (jewish) male (me) on the waitlist (we're like the most over populated law school demographic I believe)?lml09 wrote:icydash wrote:Can someone explain to me the purpose of -not- ranking the waitlist? Waitlisted as well, very stoked about this though. I do wonder how many spaces are gonna open up/ how many spaces they are gonna offer eventually.
