Re: Georgetown Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Hello guys,
Got an email inviting for an alum interview. Fwiw, am 167 and superior evaluation and applied 1/9. Have a few qs:
1. What are the chances of those interviewed by alums?
2. What sort of questions can I expect? This is a very long thread and I would browse for questions only if needed. Just looking for inputs on the feel of the interview. For reference- have done a vandy Skype and a Nu online video interview this far. Vandy was chill and Nu recorded format wasn't great.
3. I live in an Asian city where I doubt any gulc alum would be working. Pretty certain I would need to take at least a 3 hours flight. But I want to interview. If I accept the invitation and then realize the interview is scheduled for a far off place, can I then cancel the interview without adversely impacting my chances. Or is it better to preempt such a situation and opt out of the interview. Alternatively, the email indicates that I can request for a video interview if distance is an issue. Anyone tried that?
Many thanks!

re number 3 you can say on the form how far you are willing to travel (eg I am willing to travel up to an hour car drive). if not, they will try to accommodate a skype interviewBEng,MBA,FRM,JD(?) wrote:Hello guys,

Not sure, but I was contacted today. Got everything squared away for an interview next week.charles117 wrote:arent the seats for gtown interviews limited. they said first come first serve right? They invited me to interview and I submitted the information for it, but they haven't gotten back to me to schedule an interview and it's been 11 days. Still, I'm patient and not at all worried.

How many days after the interview does it take for the ASW trick to work?

Hey guys, I was accepted in October but haven't received any information on merit-based aid. Should I send an Email asking them I'd like to be considered for merit-based aid? I heard that Gtown sends out scholarship info in mid-late February so should I wait?

I was really happy to get my acceptance. Anyone had any luck with the scholarship emails they send out? I have generous T14 offers and while Georgetown would be awesome I'm trying to think of a polite way of saying "only going to come if you give me a full ride"...

The more I read about Georgetown, the more I'm inclined to attend their school. As someone primarily interested in international law and working with the state department, it seems like the optimal place to study for my path even though it is listed at the bottom of the T14. Getting ahead of myself though; I still haven't been accepted to any T14 schools yet.

I applied in early Jan. with a 166/3.78 and haven't heard anything. I know I shouldn't complain because other people have been waiting much longer, but I really wish I would get a decision either way.

Checking in, had my alumni interview this morning and it went amazingly well. Felt less like an interview and more like swapping stories and thoughts with a colleague. My interviewer was a really nice candid guy that had a lot of funny law school and law practice stories and gave really candid advice on the admissions process, that at times wasn't even necessarily flattering to GULC.

^ This type of nonsense is probably why you got waitlistedlawnerd87 wrote:Got the regular wait list email. I was pretty surprised that it wasn't a preferred wait list since my numbers are decent for Georgetown. If I had to guess what went wrong for me, I would guess that one person or some people in the admissions office just didn't like my personal statement. I put a lot of effort into my statement, but at the end of the day, those things are subjective. I would also guess that my alumni interviewer didn't write that positively about me. For reference, I've had success with all of the other schools I've interviewed with so far this cycle, but I think alumni interviews in general can be pretty hit-or-miss. The particular alum I spoke with seemed like he either didn't take me or the interview process or both seriously. I didn't think it was that bad, and he told me at the end that he would say that I would be a good addition to the incoming class, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was just saying that.
