No C&F issues. I am a 2nd time applicant, have a downward trend in UG GPA, and am a multiple LSAT taker though- not sure if that's a significant enough red flag.BirdLawExpert wrote:That's really weird. I applied in November so I doubt that's the reason on my part.RZ5646 wrote:Do you think maybe it's because we are so late in the cycle? Mid-T14 just doesn't jive with us I guess. Ironically, the only one I've gotten into (and it looks like it's gonna stay that way) is Berkeley, which is the most black boxy of the group and quite possibly off the table since I won't have a good offer to submit for a matching scholarship.

How many people did Michigan waitlist today? Seems like a huge amount if TLS is only a sample.

Got waitlisted today.
What is the "infamous" email that people talk about? Are there different types of WL emails?

The infamous email was last month for people who had applied like December and earlier and were still pending a decision.easttowest921 wrote:Got waitlisted today.

definitely not, I wonder if anyone has a better explanation. YP seems ridiculous.SupCutie wrote:No C&F issues. +1 waitlist. I am curious if schools are waitlisting so heavily because of the uptick in higher LSATs? If that's the case can we expect that schools will rely more heavily on the waitlist than previous years? Or are we mostly SOL?

Explain your reasoning for schools using their waitlists more if LSATs are trending upward. I'm genuinely curious.pixalia wrote:+1 waitlist. I just applied to Mighigan this week because I got an email literally asking why I hadn't yet. After reading about all of you being wait listed, I'm kind of confused. Do you think they just wanted my app to help their stats? Or do I have a chance still?

Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
I would think that because there are more higher LSATs applying, then the schools aren't sure whether or not to YP or not and end up admitting the more-qualified applicants and relying on a longer waitlist as insurance.Navyhornguy wrote:Explain your reasoning for schools using their waitlists more if LSATs are trending upward. Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
They can be pickier since the pool of qualified applicants is larger. The rise in scorers also means more people with numbers appropriate for more highly ranked schools which could threaten their yield. Waitlisting lets them gauge the interest high scorers actually have in attending and allows them to keep a backlog of high scorers to fill their class with should someone who was admitted commit elsewhere.Navyhornguy wrote:Explain your reasoning for schools using their waitlists more if LSATs are trending upward. Well I hope this is true for my sake. I'm on the WL for my top choice and it looks like more waitlists are probably on the way with my numbers.gamerish wrote:They can be pickier since the pool of qualified applicants is larger. Sorry to hear it-does "too many people" imply that those of us who applied on the later side at this point can probably expect a WL or ding?87mm wrote:Wait listed. Ugh. Said they have too many people. Lame

Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
Eh...depends on your numbers. They're probably saving a small number of outright admits for certain applicants who fit a profile. If nobody applies with those stats, then that'll make room for the first batch of people to come off of the WL right after the admissions deadline is solidified and all applications are processed. No guarantees either way. Hell, you could apply with the exact same stats as someone on the WL and get admitted, WL'd, or denied outright and it wouldn't be outrageous.shineoncrazydiamond wrote:Sorry to hear it-does "too many people" imply that those of us who applied on the later side at this point can probably expect a WL or ding?87mm wrote:Wait listed. "we cannot extend an offer at this time because of the risk that our class will be overenrolled"
Any way to improve my chances at getting off WL? I've already filled out their survey. Not sure what's next. Fortunately I live an hour from the campus. I could just put a tent up by the office.

Yikes, I wonder what that means for those of us who haven't heard anything yet. Have you done a "Why Michigan" essay or LOCI?87mm wrote:shineoncrazydiamond wrote:Sorry to hear it-does "too many people" imply that those of us who applied on the later side at this point can probably expect a WL or ding?87mm wrote:Wait listed. I wrote a "why michigan" along with a diversity and personal statement. I figured by the end of the week I will write a LOCI.

Well someone in the office is putting in weekend hours. I finally went from Incomplete - In Process to Complete dated this morning 2/21. After the waitlist wave I'm not holding my breath though, at least not with my numbers.

I'm like 90% sure I'm going in June. Absolutely love Michigan and as a splitter I'm thrilled I got in to begin with. But I'm still gonna wait out some other T14's through April/May when all the waitlists start to move.acceptme2019 wrote:Is anyone a summer starter and definitely going besides me?
