Reposting my question now that some of the panic/madness has subsided:
Anyone know if Columbia does holds? Or if you applied early and didn't get in during the first batch, you're out?

Probably not, unless you're Canadian and thus you get the email as an international student (which is sort of funny, as I live quite close to the US border).

Don't know if this will make things better or worse, but they also just leave some people hanging for a long time. Like I said earlier, I heard nothing between my grades request 1/5 and my acceptance 3/8.poe wrote:Okay, good.snehpets wrote:Yeah, last year they did holds that the beginning of February.poe wrote:Reposting my question now that some of the panic/madness has subsided:

Well, it's better than just being guaranteed a WL/ding already (which is what I'm worried about). I can wait...mel2010 wrote:Don't know if this will make things better or worse, but they also just leave some people hanging for a long time. Just spent 45 minutes reading every post from today. What a shitstorm. Congrats on acceptances! Good luck to everyone still waiting. I am in the midwest and hoping for a swift delivery (or any delivery at all).

I shudder to think of reading through the last 10 pages of this craziness... can someone just be kind and tell me whether it's both rejection/acceptance letters in the vomit envelopes, or if it's acceptances only?
I just need to know what to expect on Friday when the wave hits the west coast.

Ah, man--so many exciting things happened since I left. Glad to know Columbia is lurking these boards. Do you think they would be kind enough to write a blog post clarifying things the way Dean Z did?

I would think we would get them by saturday if they were sent out yesterday...4 days is about right from coast to coast. Could be wishful thinking on my part. I am already in ED but I am anxious to get my VCE anyway . Goodluck to all!

Gotta stop checking this thread, it bums me out. Congrats to everyone who heard today, good luck to all the rest of us sad, no VCE (so far!) people!

Technically, there are only two (?) new admits after today...TooSchool4Cool wrote:Aqualung wrote:Just spent 45 minutes reading every post from today. What a shitstorm. Congrats on acceptances! When do people who recently went complete get some vomit love? Is there a second wave or do they just send out a scattering of acceptances and rejections from now?
I'm sorry if this has been answered already, I couldn't find anything.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I really don't think they do. I think they might just have a really good IT department that went "HEY, look at all these people trying the Admitted Students Site." Run Report. E-mail Dean. Panic Mode. Solution Found. Fuck you all (the new message was kind of a "get the fuck outta here" but much much nicer.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Ah, man--so many exciting things happened since I left.
