I am going to spend some time on this. Have not heard back yet about any scholly from the school so I am looking for any option. And growing up in Winston Salem might actually help me for once in my life

This may have already been discussed, but does Wake offer travel stipends for those wishing to attend one of the open houses?

I believe they offer 200, but you only get it if you matriculate to Wake. You would turn in receipts at orientation.

how long did it take for you guys to receive letters/packages in mailing after you were admitted? does it say anything under "mailing" in status checker?

Wake is very environmentally friendly...they do not send you a bunch of stuff in the mail. As another poster mentioned you will get a congratulations letter from Dean Morant in the mail after your acceptance, but the majority of your dealings will be through email.

what do you guys think or know about wake's rep? I never heard much about this school

Wake is considered a great law school in the southeast. About half of its graduates stay in NC. They have a strong litigation/trial advocacy focus. If you look on page 62 of this thread you can see their USNWR statistics a TLSer posted for us.

attend admitted students day today and i actually think i really liked it. coming from a reasonably big school, never thought i'd like the idea of smaller classes, but i bought into it today...plus the opportunity to live in a place like crowne apts seems almost too good to pass up....hopefully i'll be attending the house hunt to see if i can find a roommate or 2 with similar interests.

Yeah I went today also. I was actually really impressed with the facilities. The class my group sat in on was actually interesting and enjoyable, wasn't boring at all!
Also I checked out downtown, while Winston-Salem isn't NYC, I was surprised that there was actually a skyline and a decent amount of bars. Maybe I had low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I received the Smith/Shaver Scholarship last year. I would definitely recommend applying for it, if you are a qualified resident. As to the one person question, it depends on the year. Usually it's just one person, but I have seen years when two were awarded.

I'm pretty sure I am attending (let's say 90% at this point), so you can count me in. Haven't played too much recently but love a good game of Hold 'em!

DUBPOKER: I went to the admitted day on the 25th as well, i actually liked it as well which shocked me. i am against going to nc but i think wake is going to be a good school and the people seem genuienly nice. great law building as well

For the people who have already paid their seat deposit: how did you pay it? do you have to mail wake a money order/check? or can i just call their financial aid office and give them my credit card number to charge?

You have to mail a check or money order. I specifically asked about this.

This is what was in my scholarship notification email: "Please mail check with letter of intent to : Wake Forest Law School, PO Box 7206, Winston-Salem, NC 27109"

I didn't send a letter of intent, but they acknowledged the intent....unless I've been sitting here this whole time wrongly thinking that I was enrolled at Wake Law! That would suck.

I play poker as well....more in high school than college...i always seem to lose money but i like to play, especially on a nice table.

*My decision is going to come down to wake/villanova, i have similar scholarships at both...not sure what i'm going to do as of yet, i'm leaning towards wake and will be sending my check on tomorrow.
