They are nice! They wrote me a nice e-mail when I updated my transcript and told them about my honors program thing.

Thanks guys! I wasn't expecting an answer this fast. TLS is just this awesome, I guess. I was planning to update admissions that I have started volunteering at a DV clinic and also at a Workers' Rights Clinic before my supervisor told me that she would write me a LOR, but now I don't have to write something up (since I feel that would be overkill)! I just emailed Berkeley to see how they would like to accept additional LORs. Since the LOR is tailored to Berkeley, I feel that it is a lot easier to just mail it to them through snail mail. I'll let you guys know once I get a response.

I updated my resume, PS, and LORs before going under review and eventually admitted. If you can make your application stronger, do it! And good luck!

BTW not all of TLS is so nice, this thread is one of the best though.

I shall follow your advice then. I feel its a losing battle, but since my friend got in last years with both score below median, I gave it a shot. Thanks r6, you've been very, VERY helpful.

Berkeley is a huge reach for me, but I applied. If you look at the medians for Berkeley over the last few years, you will see A LOT of variation. I don't doubt that they tell the truth when they say that they consider everything. It gives me hope!

I've been UR since Dec. 27, but I think I am going to send an updated "Why Berkeley" statement. I have been thinking a lot about it lately, and I have my reasons I don't think that it could hurt.

So I've been following this thread for a while. I wanted to find out if there is an estimated wait time once you go UR. Looks like it is pretty random/long.

Wonder if/when we'll hear this week. Last year, there were a bunch of acceptances on 1/11 (which was a Monday) and a TON of rejections on 1/14 (a Thursday).

Yes, just send a new PDF. I did this before I went UR (still sitting at received) if it makes a difference.

If you can write a better/more convincing one, why not? Worst case they won't look at it but know that you really want to get in.

I don't know why, but I feel like there should be one more large group of acceptances before faculty review. Of course, this would be in my own best interest.

Based on numbers reporting on lsn I think so too... but who knows

Yeah, from what i can tell the early applicants (september/october submitters) last cycle who were admitted either received their admission prior to the new year or went to faculty review and were then admitted. However there seems to be significantly fewer admits reporting on lsn this cycle as of today than there were last year of today.

Regardless, i'll be super happy if I make it to committee review
