Everybody stay positive. Before posting this I was imagining what I would do at work if I were accepted to Columbia... Dave Chappelle getting Oprah pregnant and then going to work came to mind. Think those happy thoughts everybody. =D

can you make admissions decisions predictions based solely upon the index?
I have a 4.4, so I should have a good chance right?
Does the index take into account my ethnicity though?

Yeah, you should be in RD, but how many years have you been out of UG and do you have decent softs?

Wait, I just noticed you're URM. I'm pretty sure you're in even though your GPA is low.

Yeah, URMs with near-180 LSATs are usually in pretty good shape.

You're tripping over a cordless phone. We'll see you at CLS in the Fall unless you're at Harvard.

Deferral=Soft Reject, b/c low chance of future admission. The emails are coming in left and right, it seems.

Thank you for explaining. I'm a splitter and my stats aren't what, well, everyone else's seem to be--- I'm 3.1 / 173. But, I'm out of school four years, great SOFTS--- I'm kinda shooting for deferral / waitlist / clawing my way into one of these places.

Open question to anyone--- other than directly being accepted, are there any "okay" options, because if a deferral is a soft rejection, I'm confused.

Not to be a downer, but no, there aren't any "okay" options. From what I've learned, waitlists and deferrals are both bad news. You only get deferred if you are ED though. Are you ED?

Yes I am. And, I'm the applicant who doesn't fit in a box, so to speak. My PS is unusual, etc, etc... I thought that would be an asset starting out, but now I'm just getting jerked around by everyone.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
