2. Not necessarily. A bunch of letters were sent on Friday, but I don't know of any indication that this batch is the only one.

81k here too, 171, and a 3.9. I'll likely be withdrawing this afternoon, so good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

I am definitely jealous. My GPA is about .15 less than your's and I got WL'd. I would take that offer in a heartbeat.timelovesahero wrote:I'm crazy excited!!!!

A current student told me he had success with this. That's the only evidence I have though.legendwaitforitdairy wrote:Anyone know if Vandy matches other offers?

Got my letter today, $72k. 168/3.9. Didn't fill out the scholar apps. Did do an interview though.

I got off the phone with one of the admission's ladies asking when Vanderbilt's deadline was for decisions. They don't have one, the lady said it's possible to not even have a decision until May!

Re: Vanderbilt 2013
Browsing through LSN, there seem to be more than a couple 3.5x/169 and 3.6x/168's getting offered 60-72k (and congrats to you btw). With those numbers (assuming non URM), an applicant is unlikely to break the t14, other than maybe Cornell (for example, http://lawschoolnumbers.com/SNIOP). If an applicant is unlikely to have any better options besides Vanderbilt, why would they offer so much money?timelovesahero wrote:I'm crazy excited!!!!

Why do people think Vanderbilt is doing this? It doesn't seem logical, if an applicant isn't going to get accepted anywhere better than Vandy anyway, why throw so much money at them? I thought the intent of Vandy's merit offers was to poach potential t10 and t6 candidates.
No disrespect intended to those with such numbers who got nice scholarship offers. I'm truly curious to hear other opinions as to what Vandy's strategy might be here.

Darn you Vanderbilt. The day people are hearing about scholarships is not a good day to send emails about General Petraeus.

Re: Vanderbilt 2013
Does anyone know if the tuition for first-year student is the same as continuing students? On this page, I only saw one cost:
http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... index.aspx
I pretty much have to pay the same for the first year at UT Austin and Vanderbilt, but UT's continuing students' tuition is $6k less than the first-year students'. That makes a big difference.

Okay just talked to the admissions office. The first-year students tuition is the same as continuing students'.

Re: Vanderbilt 2013
Because there wasn't a chance in hell I'd pay 42k for tuition alone. I would have no qualms with going to a "lower-ranked" school that costs a fraction of the amount. I would like not to have debt govern my future (as I am particularly interested in lesser paying gov't and public interest jobs)poprox wrote:Browsing through LSN, there seem to be more than a couple 3.5x/169 and 3.6x/168's getting offered 60-72k (and congrats to you btw).
