Best of luck all.
You withdrew from USC for UNLV?
Different strokes for different folks...
Although, I would have waited for financial aid info from USC, especially considering his UNLV scholly has a top 1/3 requirement.

I did.
I was thinking about doing just that, Sauer Grapes, but I realized that even if USC gave me a full ride (highly unlikely), I'd probably end up going to Boyd anyway. It's mostly a matter of being interested in a very specialized portion of generally untaught law (Gaming law) and the networking opportunities available if I stay in the town I want to practice in.
USC is a great school, and for any of the usual career paths (a less specialized area of law, west coast biglaw, whatever) it certainly would have made more sense. I've just realized I fall into a very specialized niche, within a very particular market, and USC doesn't cover that very specialized field particularly well. That's no failing on USC's part, no one else does either (except Boyd).
kudos to you! Best of luck to you at Boyd!

Lots of people have been complete since October and been in review for well over a month. You're safe for now, I'd say.
i'm not even in review yet & have been complete since 23 nov... 168/3.4x.
Uh same #s - been complete since Halloween. No news.

I'm starting to think USC just wants me to withdraw now to save them the trouble of reviewing my app... Complete since 11/24, no movement at all. SIGH.

Maybe you guys are an unofficial hold. They could waiting to see how many admits withdraw now that they are more likely to have heard back from their other schools. Frustrating, but better than a reject.
Don't lose hope!

Has the Rothman been awarded yet? Or if not, have they set up interviews? I'm curious to see what sort of numbers the scholarship demands.

In the past two cycles (maybe longer - did not check), USC started giving merit awards by early February. It's now March and no one has heard news. Boooooo.

I am really looking forward to merit $$$ (if any) and I was wondering if anyone has a solid answer as to when they were going to release it? And will it be via email, snail, or their fin aid portal? From what I've gathered in this thread, $$$ should go out via snail mail this week or next but I'd appreciate any additional info regarding both merit $$$ or Rothman updates.
Thanks!

I heard snail mail as well. I'm a Roth invite but there's no way I got it, my numbers are a joke. From what everyone says I should be offered some $$ though, which I'm really hoping for because that could sway me from my other top choice.

Complete since 11/23, should I assume I'm heading straight for WL/ding territory at this point?

As I recall from their Prospectus, there are more former USC undergrads at UCLA Law than UCLA undergrads. I could be wrong, but I remember being surprised, so if it's not more, than it's pretty damned close.

Also sitting around weighting for merit money decisions. Does anyone know if USC would attempt to match WUSTL, Emory, or BU in terms of $$$?

Did any of you hit up the financial aid office about merit aid? Or is everyone in for automatic consideration?

That is crazy, I got the same offer from Boyd and even though im from Vegas and have a lot of connections, im not willing to turn down my top 3 WashU, USC, and Boston U for UNLV for may reasons but especially becasue my scholarships to better schools are not tied to to top 1/3 of the class.
Different strokes for different folks but that is not a risk I was willing to take. Good Luck vegas_rebel
I like a couple of others am waiting to see if they are willing to match WUSTL or BU

Complete since 11/24, haven't heard anything. Would it be worth sending a LOCI, just so they know I'm still waiting/interested?

Same here, complete since 11/24 and have heard nothing. Does USC frown upon phone call inquiries to their admissions office to follow up on an application? Or is it helpful??

+1. Any idea when we are getting notice of aid (assuming we get any)?
Someone should call and ask.
...1...2...3... Not it!
From what I understand, everyone is up for consideration. Once you get in they send an Financial aid email that asks you to fill out a scholarship questionnaire (merit aid) as well as FAFSA and a supplemental form (need based aid). I sent an email to the office to double check that they received all the necessary forms, and to ask when I should hear back. This was around Feb 5-10.They said merit aid would come in the next few weeks (i.e. any time now) but need based aid/full aid package wouldn't come until late March. Starting to worry about merit aid, but since nobody else has heard I haven't given up hope yet.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
