Waitlisted today. Above both 75ths and wrote why UVA. Will probably be withdrawing, since there's no shot at getting $$$ off the WL, right? In any case, best of luck to everyone still in!

Did anyone submit their "Why UVA" addendum significantly after sending in their application? I applied back in September and feel like I should do something to reinforce my interest!

I think there was a guy a few pages back who did just that. He got an interview a few days later and an acceptance a bit after that. That's just one person.... but if what you send is well written, and you are a good candidate, I don't think it would hurt.

iirc someone in this thread did and had good results. i think it was decided that absolutely yes, send it whenever you write it because it can only help, and with UVA it can help a lot.

I submitted 11/18, heard nothing for months. Sent a Why UVA in mid-February, got an interview and an acceptance a couple days later.

Definitely worth a shot.

For the people getting waitlisted - email or status checker?

Email for me. I got the email yesterday, and there's nothing on the status checker yet.

I'm thinking of sending UVA a list of all the other schools that have accepted me. It seems that asking them to make a decision on the merits of my application is too much; I think this further information is what they really need to complete their holistic evaluation of my application.

Submitted a Why UVA with my app, so the helpless waiting is just ugh.

Me too. My Why UVA was BS-y and rushed though, so I almost wish I hadn't submitted one and waited until I got held, then submitted one that was decent.

Could be wrong but ... It sounded like a joke to me.

Edit - referring to notrub14's comment.

In your defense, it could've been sincere, and it still wouldn't have been the worst idea I have read on TLS.
